Nature Narratives is coming up next week!

Join us Thursday, September 10 from 6–7 PM at Musgrove + Company in Tecumseh for our next Nature Narratives Book Club gathering.

This month, we’ll be discussing A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold, a beloved classic exploring our relationship with wildlife, landscapes, and the natural world.

Protecting the Saline River & River Raisin Watershed

The River Raisin Watershed Council has submitted formal public comments to EGLE regarding the draft wastewater discharge permit for the proposed Saline Township data center.

Because the Saline River is a tributary of the River Raisin, RRWC is asking that the permit include strong, enforceable protections for water quality, aquatic life, and the health of our watershed.

Our recommendations address nutrient and temperature limits, water-quality monitoring, spill safeguards, public transparency, and more.

Ready to get your feet wet for science?

Our Fall 2026 Adopt-a-Stream Stream Searches are coming up, and we need volunteers to help us discover what’s living in our local waterways! 🔍

We’ll head into streams throughout the River Raisin Watershed to collect aquatic macroinvertebrates, aka river “bugs!” 🦟🪱 These tiny creatures can tell us a surprising amount about the health and water quality of our streams.

Happy National Honey Bee Day! 🐝

Today we’re celebrating the tiny pollinators that make a big impact on the world around us!

Honey bees help pollinate many of the plants and crops we depend on!

You can help support bees and other pollinators right in your own backyard by planting native flowers, reducing pesticide use, providing clean water sources, and protecting healthy habitat. 🌻

Can you eat fish from the River Raisin? Yes! But know before you eat! 🎣

Michigan’s Eat Safe Fish Guide helps anglers make informed choices about locally caught fish, including fish from the River Raisin.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services uses testing data to provide recommendations for which fish are safer to eat and how often they can be enjoyed. Guidelines vary by species, location and contaminant levels, so checking the guide is an important part of bringing home your catch.
