Starting July 1, many people in Medicare will have a new option to help access GLP-1 obesity medications. Under the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program monthly medication copays would be capped at a flat $50.

Medicare coverage can be confusing, especially when it comes to obesity treatment. This program is designed to help make care more affordable and easy to access.

Not everyone will qualify, but if you are on Medicare - or about to be - and have been waiting for more affordable obesity treatment options, now is a good time to talk with your healthcare provider. Learn more: https://bit.ly/49X5lC0

We’re seeing a positive step forward as Southwest’s Customer of Size policy is being reconsidered, following strong advocacy from travelers and organizations including the OAC. This is an encouraging sign that voices are being heard and concerns around fairness, accessibility and standardized dignity in air travel are being taken seriously. At the same time, this is not the finish line. Continued advocacy is still needed to help ensure lasting, consistent and respectful change across the airline industry. Your mental health coverage matters more than you might think, especially when it comes to comprehensive obesity care. Many plans include benefits for therapy, counseling and behavioral health support, but they are not always easy to find or understand. Taking a few minutes to review your coverage can help you avoid surprises and get the support you need when it matters. Take an active step and review your healthcare plan: https://bit.ly/4x04F92

Sometimes the hardest part of living with obesity is feeling like you have to carry everything on your own. Internalized weight bias can make it difficult to ask for help, accept compassion or recognize your own worth.

But you do not have to navigate this journey alone. Join the OAC Community for support, education and connection with people who understand the challenges of living with obesity and the importance of compassion along the way. ObesityAction.org/community
