❗Cold weather shelters will be open tonight, Saturday, Jan. 31 and tomorrow night, Sunday, Feb. 1❗

We are expecting temperatures to dip below 40 degrees and are activating our cold weather shelters program to help the homeless and those who live in homes without adequate heat who are unable to find other accommodations.

⌚ All shelters will take in guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, unless they reach capacity prior to that time.

Important details about cold weather resources from our partners at Metropolitan Ministries

COLD WEATHER SHELTERS OPEN TONIGHT AND TOMORROW

🛏️ Metro is offering motel vouchers and hot meals for families with minor children and hot meals at Hillsborough shelter locations.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 All congregate shelters are reserved for adults only. For families with minor children in Hillsborough County, Metropolitan Ministries has a very limited number of motel vouchers on a first-come, first-served basis.

📞 Pre-registration is required for motel vouchers by calling (813) 209-1176. Phone lines will be open today and tomorrow until 5 p.m. or until we run out of vouchers.

⏰ Shelters will take in guests from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. each night, unless they reach capacity prior to that time.

🍽️ Metropolitan Ministries prepares and provides all the hot meals for Hillsborough locations as well as for motel voucher families, thanks to community support 🙏✨

We’re proud to be one of those businesses. Through our partnership with Faith Cafe, our culinary team donates 20–200 pounds of surplus food each week, from bagels and croissants to eggs and fresh fruit. To date, that’s more than 4,000 pounds of food shared with our neighbors in need.

Twice a week Faith Cafe picks up anywhere from 20 to 200 pounds of surplus food from Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay to be served to people in need.

Our commitment to caring for people extends beyond our guests—it’s rooted in the well-being of our entire community and the planet we share. 💚

We’re honored to partner with Faith Cafe, a local organization dedicated to feeding those in need. Through this collaboration, we donate all surplus food no longer required in our daily operations, ensuring it finds a second purpose where it’s needed most.

Since February, we’ve contributed 2,981 pounds of food, with twice-weekly pickups helping us support both people and the planet. By keeping food out of landfills and placing it into the hands of our neighbors, we’re taking a small but impactful step toward a more compassionate and sustainable future.

🚨 Volunteer Needed!

We’re looking for a volunteer to help with weekly shopping and pantry deliveries for Faith Cafe.

Each week the shopper will receive a shopping list, place the order (with a Faith Cafe payment method), pick it up, and bring the items to Faith Cafe to unload.

Our outgoing shopper is available to train the new volunteer for this important role!

Total time commitment is 2-3 hours a week across Wednesday (placing the order) and Thursday (pick up and drop off).
