PCAT Family Literacy Program

PCAT Family Literacy Program PCAT is an after-school literacy program designed to assist children ages 5-7 at risk of school fail Parents are also encouraged to participate.

Since 2003, PCAT (Parents and Children Advance Together) has been an after-school literacy program for underserved children and families living in severely distressed neighborhoods in Hillsborough County, Florida. The purpose of PCAT is to instill literacy as a value with an emphasis on breaking the intergenerational cycle of non-readers in these communities. Our program is comprehensive and desig

ned to assist low-performing students with a risk of school failure with reading and reading comprehension instruction. PCAT students read below a desired level and are recommended into the program by their teachers. The program relies on the support of volunteers and tutors/mentors. Our services are offered at no cost to our families.
