It’s that time of year when our church teams are beginning to promote their summer mission and form their teams for this year. 🇧🇷
Many of you are praying and seeking the Lord on whether you should join that team or not.
Recently I heard someone say at our church that the Bible does not excuse one single person from the Great Commission-
And that’s true. It doesn’t say IF you are able, or IF you can afford it, or IF you want to- it says “Go… and make disciples of all the nations.”
I realize this doesn’t mean everyone is called to go to Brazil but everyone IS called to make disciples. You definitely don’t have to travel to a foreign country to do that and we want you to be doing it now where you live.
But Harvest Mission provides an opportunity to GO to one of those “nations”.
Can you guess what one of biggest reasons is that people talk themselves out of going?
Yep…money. The cost.
I had a dear sister in Christ that I attend church with tell me on this Sunday -“I want to go but I’m not sure.”
I said “What’s your hesitation?”
Her answer….. “I can’t afford it.”
My answer, “ So you’re saying if God calls you to go, He can’t provide you with that money? There has never been one person to go that He didn’t provide for.”
Of course, we “know” that!
Until it’s us that’s feeling called.
Until it’s us that looks at the cost, then our bank account. 🤦🏻♀️
This is where faith comes in. ✝️
Do you really believe God?
If He is putting that desire in your heart to answer His calling to go, do you believe He can SEND you?
Could He provide you with extra money randomly between now and then?
Could He tell someone else to pay your way?
Could He provide opportunities for you to raise the money?
Could He?
Of course He can! G O D is ABLE🙌🏻
Guess what? He’s done it over and over and over again for others. Why wouldn’t He do it for you too?
One of the greatest aspects of going on a foreign mission trip is learning to rely on God in ways you’ve never had to. For many, that starts with the faith to say “Yes, I’ll go” and “I’ll trust You to provide the way.”
Believe me, I get it. I’ve got a daughter who wanted to sign up for all 3 mission trips our church is going on the summer. My first thought was “we can’t afford all three.” But I took that thought captive and I told her to pray about it and if God tells her to go, then we’ll trust Him to provide.
So please be encouraged when you read this to seek God on going, answer His calling and then place your faith in Him to provide the way for you.
If you have ever had these same doubts and watched God provide for you, will you drop a 🙋🏻♀️, or a word of encouragement for those struggling?
We love you all and look forward to working with all our summer missionaries! Thank you for being a part of HMB!
