🐈⬛ Got stray cats needing spay/neuter? Sorry this is longer, but please read all!
Before making a cat spay/neuter appointment, and for the safety of yourself, volunteers, vet staff, and the cat, have a plan in place.
First, you MUST know the cat’s socialization status. This determines whether you use a carrier or live trap. And no, those wire dog crates are not accepted.
One cat=one carrier or trap!
FRIENDLY cats go in a hard-sided CARRIER. The vouchers we sell for Alabama Spay Clinic are ONLY for the friendly kitties!
Friendly Stray Cats:
* Display signs of affection, such as purring or rubbing against legs. Cat must be easily picked up by bare hands. Think “adoptable pet”.
UNSOCIALIZED cats go in a TRAP. This is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Vouchers are NOT valid for TNR.
Unfriendly Stray Cats:
* Display defensive behaviors, such as hissing or swatting if threatened. If you have concerns, or there is reasonable expectation anyone could be scratched or bitten, the cat must be trapped.
After carrier or trap question is settled, then set an appointment, and after kitties are “fixed”, congratulate yourself on a job well done! We salute those who choose to do the right thing!!
If you are unsure about determining what is needed, message us!
PS-do not wait if you are able to purchase a voucher at “regular“ prices. Our next sale will be sometime in June, but your cat could get pregnant or perhaps she is now and have kittens by then. Ain’t nobody got time for that!!
