🐋 Journey to Greenland with Gail Hale!🧊

Join us for the Rotary Club of Swarthmore's weekly Lunch & Speaker Series on Thursday, October 29!

This week, we're traveling (virtually!) to southeastern Greenland with Gail Hale, who will share stories and photos from her visit to two remarkable communities.

From a polar bear rescue and encounters with whales to towering icebergs, a hike through a river valley, and the breathtaking northern lights, Gail's presentation promises an unforgettable adventure. Along the way, we'll also learn about the rich culture and traditions of Greenland's Inuit people.

Come explore a fascinating corner of the world with us!

🎶 Speaker Announcement

Join us for our weekly Lunch & Speaker Series!

On Thursday, October 22, the Rotary Club of Swarthmore welcomes Dana Semos, Executive Director, and Sean Tripline, Artistic Director, of the Chester Children's Chorus.

For more than 30 years, the Chester Children's Chorus has provided young people from Chester with year-round opportunities in music and education. Now, as the organization begins an exciting new chapter, Dana and Sean will introduce themselves in their new leadership roles, share an update on the Chorus, and give us a look at what's ahead for the coming season.

We'll hear about their vision for building on the Chorus's remarkable legacy while continuing to create opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and experience the joy of making music together.

On Thursday, October 15, the Rotary Club of Swarthmore welcomes Gonzalo M. Cornejo of Esperanza Immigration Legal Services for:

“Immigration: A Data-Driven Overview, Real-World Challenges & Community Support Through Legal Services”

Gonzalo will take a data-driven look at immigration while also bringing the conversation to the human level—exploring some of the real-world challenges immigrants face and the role that trusted legal services and community support can play.

Esperanza Immigration Legal Services provides immigration legal services, education, and advocacy, helping immigrants navigate issues including naturalization, green card applications and renewals, family petitions, DACA renewals, and humanitarian forms of relief. ([Esperanza][1])

**Rotarians in Action! 💛**

On Saturday, Rotary Club of Swarthmore members rolled up their sleeves at Open Table at Chester Eastside. Everyone jumped in wherever needed, working together to keep the morning running smoothly.

Together, we helped serve **91 midday meals to 59 individuals**, offering nourishment, a warm welcome, and connection.

Thank you to our volunteers for bringing your time, energy, and generosity to this important community service. This is Rotary teamwork in action!

💙 Rotary Reflections

At the heart of service is a simple belief: every person matters.

When we work to strengthen our communities, address hunger, expand opportunity, support education, promote peace, or simply reach out to a neighbor in need, we affirm the dignity and worth of the people around us.

Service Above Self asks us to look beyond ourselves and consider what we can do to help others live with greater opportunity, connection, and hope.

That is how stronger communities are built—one act of service at a time.

On Thursday, October 1, the Rotary Club of Swarthmore welcomes Lisa Oster, Director of Children & Youth Programs at the Park Avenue Community Center, for a presentation on “The Power of Play.”

Play is much more than fun. It gives children opportunities to explore, create, solve problems, build confidence, develop relationships, and make sense of the world around them.

Lisa will share why play is such an important part of childhood development and how opportunities for creative, social, and imaginative play can help children learn and thrive.

Rotarians in Action! Last week, the Rotary Club of Swarthmore joined Teachers’ Teammates for a service project. Our club donated $2,000, and members filled 90 backpacks with school supplies for local children. 🎒✏️

Teachers’ Teammates helps Delaware County students and teachers get the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. We’re glad to support their work and grateful to everyone who helped pack the backpacks!
