The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), founded in 1890, is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. The merger of the Robert Morris, organized in 1909, and Quaker City, organized in 1897, chapters was affected on April 17, 1995, as a result of the dedicated efforts of chapter regents. Both the Robert Morris and Quaker City chapters were chartered in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Robert Morris-Quaker City Chapter, NSDAR, carries on the legacy, and is chartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On this day in 1787, delegates signed the Constitution of the United States of America. Not a perfect document, but the framework to build a better nation.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The Quaker City Chapter, NSDAR, was established in 1897. The first chapter regent, was Minnie Murdoch Kendrick.

Mrs. George Washington Kendrick, was devoted to serving her community and ensuring girls and women had the opportunity to education.

Upon her death in 1903, her devoted husband published a 185 page book of letters and tributes to his wife, whose loss was felt throughout the city.

Today, the Robert Morris-Quaker City Chapter, NSDAR, continues Minnie Kendrick’s legacy of service.

Happy 292nd birthday to Robert Morris!

Robert Morris Jr. was a British-born American merchant, investor, and politician, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Morris served in the Pennsylvania legislature, the Second Continental Congress, and the United States Senate.
