Our Adult Day Program participants in Aston spent some quality time at a local animal shelter where they got to snuggle and play with some adorable kittens and learn first-hand how cute creatures like these end up there.

Our George Crothers Memorial School at CADES has been gearing up for weeks for what should be a fabulous Fall Fest on Friday! Whether it's playing some spooky games in Social Skills class, chasing ghostly floating sprites in Adapted Physical Education, dancing at the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County to some of the classics, or getting those amazing pumpkin displays ready for the annual competition, Fall Fest will be a fantastic end to a wonderful month at CADES!

Room 211 took a trip to Junior Playland in Newtown Square, where students climbed, bounced, explored, and played their way through a space-themed adventure! From navigating around asteroids to soaring across trampolines, there were plenty of opportunities to move, discover, and have fun together. And judging by these smiles, we’d say the mission was a success! 🌟Shout out to GCMS Special Education Teacher Marissa Thomas for these pics!

As we celebrate 75 years of CADES, we’re grateful for the community partners that helped us make this milestone celebration possible.

We had a wonderful visit from the Swarthmore Borough Police Department and the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Assn. - Station 14 last week, where students were able to explore everything from firefighting equipment and tools to driving a police cruiser! We always appreciate every opportunity to learn from Swarthmore's bravest and finest!

Room 117 got their fall fill last week, heading out to Linvilla Orchards to pick some pumpkins, enjoy a hayride, and say hello to the animals! Shout out to GCMS Special Education Teacher Shannon Leahy for these adorable pics!

CADES staff across our organization wore green for National Kabuki Syndrome Awareness Day (October 23rd), and for Aidan. We have had the privilege of watching Aidan grow up, experience the development of his skills and his infectious personality, and gotten caught up in his dance moves, so raising awareness about Kabuki Syndrome is the least that we can do here at CADES.

Kabuki syndrome is a rare genetic condition that can affect many parts of the body. While every person's experience is different, it can be associated with developmental differences, growth differences, hearing loss, feeding challenges, seizures and other health concerns. But a diagnosis is only one part of anyone's story. We celebrate Aidan every day for who he is, the relationships he has built and the joy he brings to all of us around him.

By learning more about rare conditions like Kabuki syndrome, we can help create greater understanding for individuals and families whose experiences may not always be widely known.

Today, we're proud to add our voices to that effort. 💚

The clouds parted and gave us a window of nice weather to celebrate this year's Courageous Pacers! It's a year of milestones for us here at CADES, as we celebrate our 75th anniversary AND the 20th anniversary of Courageous Pacers! Decked out in our throwback Courageous Pacers shirts, we all got moving in honor of National Physical Therapy Month, whether walking or rolling! And our entire Related Services Team of SLPs and OTs developed stations around the track where students, staff, and families could move and groove while earning stamps and stickers! Big thank you to this year's sponsors, our friends from Holy Child Academy, Drexel Hill and Gwynedd Mercy University who volunteered for the afternoon, and a shout out to Physical Therapist Diane Kovach for once again organizing this year's effort! And thank you to all of our amazing physical therapists- Lynn Butler, Arizona Hedrick, Amy Wolstenholme, Michele Guthrie, and Mary Beth Divis- for the work you do every day with our students!
