You may have seen Sullivan Firefighters and paramedics from Missouri Baptist out in the community today doing a little ramp building.
Recently, a former first responder in our community began having difficulty navigating the front steps of his home, resulting in multiple falls. Our members saw an opportunity to help and make things easier.
While building the ramp, our members also repaired his front door and cleaned and repaired his gutters.
The materials for the ramp were purchased using funds raised and donated to the Sullivan Firefighters Fund. The completed ramp will make it safer and easier for him to leave and return to his home while providing greater accessibility and independence.
We are exceptionally proud of our members who took time out of their day to go the extra mile for a member of our community and a former member of the fire service. This is exactly the kind of impact we wanted the Sullivan Firefighters Fund to make.
Thank you to everyone who donates to the fund and the people who helped today

About the Sullivan Firefighters Fund
The Sullivan Firefighters Fund was created in 2024 as a way for Sullivan firefighters to collectively raise and manage funds to help our members, their families, and the citizens of our community.
The Sullivan Firefighters Fund is completely separate from the Sullivan Fire Protection District. It does not, and will never, use taxpayer funds. All money in the fund comes from fundraisers and donations.
One of our primary goals is to help our own members—both current and retired/honorary—and their families during times of need. Funds may be used to assist during financial or medical hardships, make homes more accessible for retired or honorary members through projects such as wheelchair ramps or moving furniture, or provide other assistance that can make day-to-day life a little easier.
These individuals dedicated many years to protecting our community and helping build the fire service into what it is today. We believe it is important to continue looking after those who spent their careers looking after us.
As the fund grows, we also hope to expand our efforts throughout the community. One of our goals is to establish a scholarship program for local students interested in pursuing a career in the fire service. This could include assistance with medical schooling, fire academies, or college degrees related to the fire service.
We also hope to use the fund to assist community members who are experiencing difficult times. This could include providing holiday meals, school lunches, Christmas presents for children, or helping someone in our community who simply needs a helping hand.
Every dollar makes these efforts possible.
Once again, these funds are 100% firefighter and community funded and will never use taxpayer money.
Thank you for supporting the Sullivan Firefighters Fund and allowing us to continue serving those who serve, and serving our community.
