Congratulations! Fun fact she used to our president!
Congratulations to District 1 Council Member Suzanne Whatley, who has been elected President of Texas Municipal League (TML) Region 14!
Council Member Whatley previously served as Region 14 Vice President and was elected President during the Region’s Annual Meeting in Galveston Aug. 6-7.
Her unanimous election to both leadership positions reflects the confidence fellow municipal leaders throughout the region have placed in her leadership and her ability to represent the shared interests of their communities.
Formed in 1913, the Texas Municipal League serves the needs and advocates for the interests of more than 1,100 member cities and towns. TML is organized into 15 regions that promote municipal government, encourage the exchange of information and ideas among cities, and assist the TML Board of Directors in developing policies that reflect the diverse interests and needs of communities across the state. TML Region 14 encompasses 17 counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Houston, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Wharton.
As President, Council Member Whatley will help lead collaboration, educational programming and discussions among cities throughout the 17-county region. Her leadership also gives Sugar Land an opportunity to strengthen relationships with municipal leaders across Texas, exchange ideas and best practices, and help shape conversations on issues affecting cities and their residents.
It’s a leadership role that brings strategic value beyond City limits, strengthening Sugar Land’s voice, connections and presence in the broader municipal community.
