🌍 World Environment Day

Our city is more than a place we live—
it’s a place we care for. 💚

From our parks and trails to our lakes and neighborhoods, every space reflects the choices we make each day.

Today, on World Environment Day, we’re reminded:
A cleaner Sugar Land starts with each of us.

Small actions create real change:
🚯 Pick up litter when you see it
🛍️ Choose reusable over disposable
🌱 Respect and protect our green spaces
🤝 Inspire others by leading the way

Because when we take care of our environment,
we take care of our community.

Together, let’s keep Sugar Land beautiful—today and every day.

What a beautiful way to volunteer 💚

Give back to the city you live in, connect with friends, get some outdoor time, and help clean up our parks… would you call this a win-win? 😊

This amazing group of high schoolers has been volunteering with Keep Sugar Land Beautiful for the past 5 years. Every month, they head to a local park, pick up litter, and spend meaningful-outdoor time together.

Here’s a quick snapshot from their recent cleanup at Oyster Creek Park:
• 7 volunteers
• 1 hour
• 1 bag of trash collected

The park was fairly clean this time (always a good sign!), though there’s still some litter hidden in the bushes.

Would you or your teen like to be part of something like this?

Drop me a comment or email at [email protected] — we’d love to have you join us 💚

Another great program and activity!

Take a closer look at what happens when it rains in 's "Where Does Water Run?" activity. Students design and implement a field investigation involving relationships between levels of precipitation, runoff, and percentage of impervious ground cover. A great activity to explore the concepts of the water cycle, area, erosion, pollution, volume, velocity, and more!

How important are birds to plants and animals in their habitat? In 's "Food Chain Tag" activity students participate in a physical predator-prey activity to demonstrate how birds help cycle nutrients and energy through ecosystems and how poisons in a food chain affect predators.
