Grace Bath partnered with Pastor Chelo in Bercy to host a medical and dental clinic. Over the course of a few days they were able to see 110 people! We love to see churches partnering with their Haitian Pastors in ways that bless the community.

Another cool story out of all of this is that the young man pictured third from left is a dental student that is sponsored by one of our SoO supporters. Jeandel is in his final year (internship year) of dental school and will graduate next May. Jeandel grew up in Bercy and has been mentored by Chelo and his wife and through their school. We thank Jeandel for wanting to go and give back to the community that has supported him. May he continue to be a mentor to the kids in the school in Bercy and may this also encourage our sponsors to see the great things that are still being done in Haiti! If you would like to sponsor a high school student who is preparing to move to the next level of education please reach out as we have numerous students in Canaan and Bercy who are wanting to pursue a college degree in Haiti.

Big news coming soon! SoO is adding two new board members! We can’t wait to share who! Stay tuned in the weeks to come! Looking forward to sharing in the to do’s so we can keep everyone more updated as to what’s going on with the schools in Haiti. We also hope to be able to fundraise more to get medical clinics back into the schools and their communities. It’s not an easy task with the gangs still having majority control of Haiti. It can be done but it takes a lot of planning and a lot more funds than it uses to.

We have two young men from Bercy who have been in dental school. They have one year left which will be their internship. We would like to have them be a part of the clinic and serving the school with their dental expertise!

The Significance of One is a non-profit organization that operates using unpaid volunteers in the USA. These volunteers oversee child and classroom sponsorship programs in Bercy, Canaan, and Duclos, Haiti. Arlington’s school has students working hard and learning about agriculture. Please continue to pray for Arlington as he has been very sick and unable to be a part of all the day to day with the school.

Did you know the school in Canaan has a computer class? This year we had more students than laptops and Samedy had a lot of old, not working laptops. We were blessed with a sponsor who wanted to provide updated laptops for the school’s computer class. God is good!

This is a difference maker…. Nurse Pierre. I met Nurse Pierre while doing medical clinics in Haiti. She once had a clinic in her community that she put her own funds into to care for those who could not afford medical care. Her clinic was was raided and destroyed by the gangs in Haiti. But…she’s still making a difference. She is going into the mountains of Cabaret and providing medical care and trying to introduce a feeding program. Her goal is to go every Wednesday. Please be praying for Nurse Pierre and for God to continue to use her talents and compassion. Please pray about donating towards her clinics and feeding program or helping her own children go to school. This is why we continue to do what we can to provide Christ centered education in Haiti. Please remember Haiti in your prayers and if you are able please continue to support financially. School is a blessing to the teachers and students. It equips, provides for, and offers a break away from what is happening on a daily basis in Haiti.

As we approach Giving Tuesday please consider a donation to the Significance of One. We have many needs that we would love to see met at our partner schools in Haiti.
1. Arlington’s school needs new benches and desks. The benches, desks, and chairs are worn and breaking. We would love to provide extra funds so that the children are able to sit safely during the school day.
2. Samedy’s school endured minor damage during the recent hurricane that caused a lot of high winds and rain in Haiti. We would like to be able to bless Samedy with the ability to make those repairs.
3. Sponsorship is down and costs in Haiti for food, medical, school supplies, etc are high. SOO would love to be able to provide the schools with extra funds to provide a Christmas lunch/party for the students at all three schools.
