Our Veterans Park America 250 Bench Project begins ❤️ A partnership with Veterans’ organization A Call to Shoulders

Let the evolution begin:

We have an opportunity for a veteran in the western suburbs to work on this bench for the city of Sugar Grove to be ready for the upcoming Sugar Grove Corn Boil. We will be gluing up all the pieces starting this weekend with the build to happen in the next few weeks. More accurate timing to be determined once the participating veterans have been identified..

Build Location: Sugar Grove IL (address to be provided to vetern(s) selected for this project.
Open Veteran Slots: 1
Transportation: Provided by veteran
Type of shop: A Shoulder's personal purpose built shop. Separate building from house. Very rural location complete with wood mill.
Food: We are working on it. If you have specific dietary needs, please provide your own.

What you will learn: This bench has been designed to weather the elements for a long time to come so we will be going though the wood selection, basic hand tools, like hand saw and chisels. We will NOT be using the latest and greatest tools because they are expensive. This is not an expert level class. You will participate in problem solving, are encouraged to ask questions, and will leave knowing how to use some tools that you didn't before, having earned some money and having a much better idea of whether or not you really want to do something like this at home. And some money in case you want to invest in that possibility.

What it's not: a job or a job interview
