Sunflower Cottage

Sunflower Cottage A Life Enrichment program provided by Sunshine House, Inc. The Sunflower Cottage is a life enrichment program provided by Sunshine Resources of Door County.

The program operates Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. We specialize in ensuring a safe environment with supervision, socialization, activities and an individualized personal care plan for all participants living with Alzheimer's, Dementia and other age-related challenges.

We had a blast today! Made a sign for Sully’s Produce. On Monday we will go there to pick out flowers for our courtyard planters. Played a little trivia until lunch. After lunch Moira and Mitzi came in to visit and ended up playing Uno with us. There was lots of fun bantering and laughter 😂. For snack Jann brought in ice cream bars. Thank you Jann!!! Ended the day tossing the beach ball around.

Boys day today!!!! Sat outside and enjoyed our new water feature and played the card game Garbage. Nick Freimuth from Let’s Go Door County stopped in to visit and spotlight the Cottage. Keep an eye on Facebook for it. The afternoon was spent in the game room shooting pool, playing shuffleboard, and throwing axes. Lots of fun and laughter.

Gail shared pictures on when she was a Packer’s Golden Girl. She talked about how she tried out, how she needed to dress, and all the fun she had performing. Thank you for bringing that in. It was wonderful! Played a little Left, Right, Center and then exercised before eating Million Dollar Spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. There was nothing left on the plates! We had a visit from Moira, Mitzi, Sarge, and Debbie. Love seeing you guys. A little dog therapy goes a long way. Thank you to Moira for the new games ( word search, Ok Play for 5 in a row). You are awesome to us!We also had a visit from Don for the afternoon. He talked our ears off but it was fun. We ended the day playing Yahtzee and having an ice cream bar for snack. Thank you goes out to our volunteer Jann for the treat.

Hip Hip hooray today was our first Tri-Shaw rides of the year!🌞 Everyone enjoyed the rides through Cherry Blossom park with Norma, the Tri-Shaw pilot with Door County Cycling without Age!
We made Bacon Alfredo and a garden salad for lunch! Spent some more time outside on the patio this afternoon doing trivia. Ended the day playing Summertime Bingo!

What a fun day. We started off playing our new dart ball game in the front room of the Cottage followed by trivia, ROM exercises, and then a lunch of pulled pork sandwich, potato chips, and pears. After lunch we had a quick game of garbage and then off to another part of the building to listen to the Ukulele Society play some old time favorites. Everyone was singing along!!! Pearl and Tracy donated a Ukulele to the society. They were very grateful and had an idea of who could use it. We will definitely invite the group back.

Quick Friday. A huge thank you to Mary and John for helping out today. Enjoyed Uno, garbage, reminiscing, and the great outdoors. Cooking class consisted of cutting up onions and mushrooms for Beef Stroganoff. Clean plate club members all the way around! Have a great weekend!!
