National Rescue Consultants is bringing a hands-on Trench Rescue class to Florida’s Treasure Coast.

This course puts students in a live trench environment built to replicate real-world trench rescue and shoring operations. Students will work through the unique soil conditions found in South Florida, learning how different soil types and layers impact trench stability, hazards, and rescue tactics.
From Incident Command to rescuers working in the trench, students will get hands-on experience with scene size-up, safety, shoring, patient access, and trench rescue operations based on TRT Specialist-level practices.

Instruction will be led by experienced Technical Rescue instructors with strong TRT/USAR backgrounds, bringing real operational knowledge and practical problem-solving directly to the training ground.

We just wanted to share a great training opportunity coming up in our area.

SoFLO TRT is putting on their Structural Collapse Technician course, and it looks like an incredible opportunity for anyone looking to level up their rescue skills with some heavy hands-on work.

Here are the quick details:

When: January 18th – January 29th, 2027
Where: Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex over in Fort Pierce

The course covers everything from shoring and stabilization to breaching and victim extrication under real-world scenarios.

🇺🇸MARTIN COUNTY TO HONOR AND REMEMBER THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11 WITH MEMORIAL BRIDGE WALK🇺🇸

Please join us as we honor and remember the thousands of lives lost in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and aboard the four flights that crashed on September 11, 2001.

Hosted by multiple Martin County public safety and community partners, this annual tradition brings everyone together to pay tribute to the victims, first responders and all those impacted by the devastating events of 9/11.

An 18-year man was seriously injured Sunday night when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car along SW Warfield Boulevard and SW Monroe Street.

The driver of the vehicle tried to avoid hitting the bike, but was unable to do so. The injured bicyclist was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office was able to confirm his identity late this morning through family members in Guatemala.

Investigators have determined that the bicyclist violated the motorists right of way, causing the crash. The driver of the car was not injured.
