💃 Chair Zumba® is back this month!

Just over a week until Evening Chair Zumba® with Danny Grae on Tuesday, October 20, from 5:30–6:30 PM!

Chair Zumba® is a seated, low-impact version of Zumba® that gives you a fun upper-body workout while letting you move at your own pace. It’s adaptable for wheelchair users and most fitness abilities. And yes, you can still break a sweat!

One of the best parts? The people. Our regulars have built a great little community, and it’s a fun way to get to know your fellow library-goers. But don’t worry if you’ve never been before! New faces are always welcome and encouraged!

Can’t attend yourself? Know a neighbor, friend, relative, or someone else who could use a little more movement and connection? Invite them! Offer them a ride, come along with them, or simply share this post with them.

Tuesday, October 20, 5:30–6:30 PM
Community Room, Hughes Library, Stroudsburg
Registration requested: 570-421-0800 ext. 317
Walk-ins are welcome!

Only 3 DAYS until our free classic film!

And don’t let that quiet, understated image fool you — this is a comedy!!

Three coworkers. One terrible boss. And eventually, three women who decide they’ve had enough! Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton in a classic workplace comedy.

It’s also a special opportunity to celebrate Dolly Parton and her remarkable legacy. Her performance is one of her most memorable film roles, and we’re looking forward to remembering Dolly with this classic afternoon comedy.

In recognition of Veterans Day, the Words & Film Sunday Matinee continues with a presentation of a film, based on a 2014 stage play of the same name by David Haig on Sunday November 1st at 2 PM. In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, this film follows General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Captain James Stagg as they face an impossible choice--launch the largest and most dangerous seaborne invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether. Directed by Anthony Maras, this film stars Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Damien Lewis and Chris Messina.
This film is rated PG-13 for war violence, bloody images, some strong language and smoking. Run time is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

A classic comedy is coming to the library!

Don’t be fooled by the subtle, low-key image. This one is a comedy — and a very funny one at that!

Join us Thursday, October 15 at 2:00 PM for a free classic film starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton.

Three very different coworkers find themselves dealing with the same sexist, overbearing boss. After years of putting up with his behavior, they decide they’ve had enough and begin imagining what it would be like to turn the tables on him.

And this screening is especially meaningful as we remember Dolly Parton and her remarkable legacy. Her performance is one of her most memorable film roles, and we’re happy to celebrate her with an afternoon of laughs.
