🌍 A Special Visit to the J. L. King Center!

The J. L. King Center had the pleasure of welcoming Widen the Circle for a special visit filled with history, connection, and meaningful conversations!

Approximately 30 visitors joined us, including seven guests from Germany! 🇩🇪

During their visit, the group had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of the Oktibbeha County Unity Park and the J. L. King Center, along with the importance of preserving our community’s history and continuing the work of unity and healing.

We were honored to have Dr. Everlyn Johnson, a member of the Unity Park Committee, participate in this special occasion, along with Ms. Margaret Brown, Building Manager, and Latalla Rashanel Harris, Social Media Manager, representing the J. L. King Center.

Widen the Circle is an organization dedicated to empowering local activists in Germany and the United States who work to uncover legacies of persecution, bring communities together, and promote healing through education, remembrance, and unity.

A special thank you to Mr. Steve Murray for his interest in visiting our community and helping make this meaningful experience possible!

We truly appreciate the opportunity to share our history, welcome new faces, and build connections that extend beyond borders.

📚 Intercession is in progress at the J.L. King Center!

We are committed to making sure our students continue learning and stay on track, even while school is out!

As part of that commitment, the J.L. King Center has invested in Learning Farm, an educational program available to each student enrolled in our program. Students can access Learning Farm both at the Center and at home, giving them additional opportunities to strengthen their skills in:

📖 Reading
➗ Math
🔬 Science

These learning tools can help our students stay on top of assignments, reinforce important classroom skills, and work toward achieving strong grades throughout the school year.

Programs like this are possible because of the support and partnerships of people in our community. Your continued support of the J.L. King Center helps us provide resources, opportunities, and educational programs that make a positive difference for our students.

There’s nothing like a good game of KICKBALL! 🏃🏾‍♀️⚽️🙌🏾

Every Monday, members of the Baptist Student Union at Mississippi State University come out to fellowship with, mentor, and spend quality time with our students.

It’s safe to say our students absolutely LOVE interacting with them! 💛 From the laughter and friendly competition to the positive connections being built, we truly appreciate the time and energy they pour into our students each week.
