Bridgeway Church is such a wonderful partner in helping meet the needs of our neighbors. Instead of duplicating services, they decided to begin donating to π™‰π™šπ™žπ™œπ™π™—π™€π™§π™¨ π™ƒπ™šπ™‘π™₯π™žπ™£π™œ π™‰π™šπ™žπ™œπ™π™—π™€π™§π™¨ instead.

Beyond that, they allowed us to use their space for our Dumpster Divert project, which salvaged furniture and household essentials from the landfill by picking up donations and taking them to the church for shopping.

We’re also grateful to their partnership with Better Together, which is a community action group made up of local leaders, churches, organizations, businesses and residents.

Thank you to Bridgeway for giving us the opportunity to expand our reach, extending support unity.

The lease gap isn’t a new problem.

Every year, tenants are displaced during apartment turnover while units are prepared for new residents. For some, it’s an inconvenience. For others, it’s the difference between having housing and not.

Maybe the solution isn’t one big fix.

Maybe it’s staggered turnover schedules, short-term lease extensions, temporary housing partnerships, and community planning before the crisis starts.

Predictable problems deserve proactive solutions.

Thank you to Walmart Starkville Spark Good for investing in Starkville Strong’s Path to Stability program.

Path to Stability is a six week program designed to help participants build a stronger foundation through topics like financial strategies, emotional wellness, tenant rights, goal setting, resource navigation, and other practical life skills. The goal is to help them create a plan for tomorrow.

We’re grateful for partners like Walmart Spark Good who are helping make those opportunities available to our neighbors.

Let’s talk about cause and effect.

When apartment complexes are purchased and tenants are evicted so units can be rented at higher rates, those families don’t just need a new address.

They enter a housing market that already doesn’t have enough affordable options. Some move in with relatives. Some bounce from couch to couch. Some end up in hotels. Some become homeless.

We’re seeing more and more neighbors who didn’t lose their housing because they were unwilling to work or for being irresponsible. They lost it because they were priced out or because the housing they relied on was no longer available to them.

Thais is a community issue.

Thank you to the Starkville Community Foundation and the members of 100 Women Who Care for selecting Second Servings as a 2026 grant recipient.

This investment will help us continue rescuing surplus food, preparing meals, and getting them into the hands of neighbors throughout Oktibbeha County. Every meal distributed represents food that didn’t go to waste and a neighbor who didn’t have to go without.

We’re honored by your confidence in this program and grateful for your commitment to strengthening our community through practical, local solutions.
