Calling all Bay Area students! We're looking for volunteers in Oakland to help out on October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at a free heart disease screening event sponsored by Heartsense and 100 Black Men of America. Using a high-tech stethoscope, residents will be screened for five possible heart diseases—without drawing blood or cutting.

No special training required to volunteer!

Held over 8 weekends in the Bay Area, prepares students for future healthtech internships through:

“Everyone’s journey is different, so sitting in a room with dozens of students, health professionals, and mentors allowed me to understand a plethora of viewpoints on health tech in a way I have never experienced before.” —Apreo Health intern

This summer, 42 interns participated in the fifth annual summer Healthtech Exploration Workshop, coming from organizations including Apreo Health, Element Science, http://Inc., Imperative Care, Recor Medical and Fogarty Innovation.

The students represented a variety of backgrounds and are pursuing college majors ranging from biomedical engineering to business, but they all had one important thing in common: an interest in advancing health equity.
