Ozark Land Trust

Ozark Land Trust 30,000 acres of land protected (and counting)! OLT's mission is to empower people to protect the natural resources of the Ozarks forever.

The Ozark Land Trust is a nonprofit conservation land trust operating throughout the Ozark region, which includes portions of Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, and Oklahoma. OLT is an accredited land trust, which is a status reserved to a relatively small percentage of land trusts across the country that have undergone a rigorous process that examines their practices, policies and procedures.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission ensures that to be accredited, land trusts must understand and show they apply the best practices in our sector. This is accomplished through various methods, including conservation easements and nature preserves. Since its founding in 1984, OLT has protected about 30,000 acres of land, including extensive hardwood forests, river frontage, caves, springs, working farmland, and urban greenspace.

Not all heroes wear capes- some of them sign conservation easements. In an era of environmental bad news, here's a reminder that people are still fighting to protect their land and we're here to help them achieve that.

As of June 2026, OLT is proud to permanently protect an additional 600+ acres in the Ozarks through thoughtful donors. That brings our total to a little over 33,000 acres. We couldn't do it without you!

Not to be dramatic- but this work really does matter. So much of the land we care about is privately owned, which means conservation only happens when people choose it. This Earth Day, your support goes directly to keeping land undeveloped, connecting habitat, and keeping waterways clean for generations to come. Help us help our mother by giving today.

*Applying their natural resource expertise to maintain high conservation values

*Providing private landowners with guidance on effective land management practices

*Collaborating with our Board and committee members, who bring decades of natural resource experience

*Engage local schools and community groups in educational outreach focused on private land conservation
