Today is the start of Su***de Prevention Month. Survivors carry stories the world may never fully understand. To every sexual assault survivor: your life has value, your voice matters, and you deserve to be heard, believed, and supported all year long. You are not alone.

R**e myths are false beliefs that minimize sexual violence. These myths do real harm by forcing survivors into silence and shame. Believing survivors and challenging these harmful narratives is essential to holding abusers accountable and creating a safer community.

Stalking on colleges is serious, unacceptable and can happen to anyone. Whether it’s unwanted and persistent contact, monitoring, or intimidating behavior, you don’t have to handle it alone.

If you or someone you know is feeling unsafe:
Trust your gut: If something feels off, it probably is.
Document everything: Save texts, emails, and notes of any incidents.
Reach out: Campus security, Title IX offices, and counseling centers are there to support you.

You deserve to feel safe on your campus.

August 26 marks Women’s Equality Day. You can’t have full equality without physical safety and bodily autonomy. Sexual assault, coercion, and harassment disproportionately affect women and non-binary individuals, creating systemic barriers to equal participation in public life, education, and the workplace.

Equality starts with the fundamental right to govern one’s own body free from fear, violence or boundary violations. Gender equality requires dismantling r**e culture and gender norms that normalize harm and silence survivors. It requires continuous advocacy for consent, safety, and respect every single day.

And let's not forget that women cheering for women will never go out of style.

Today begins International Overdose Awareness Week. Trauma, sexual violence and substance use is deeply intertwined. Survivors often use substances as a coping mechanism to navigate unaddressed pain, and those struggling with addiction face heightened risks of harm.

Support should never come with judgment. Today—and every day—we honor the lives lost to overdose, support those in active recovery, and stand with survivors finding their path forward.

You are never alone, and your safety matters.
