Meet Oriana Geis-Falla, who takes on the role of Clorinda, one of Cenerentola’s delightfully dramatic stepsisters.

Clorinda is determined to rise above her station—and absolutely convinced she deserves the royal treatment. Add her sister, her father, and a little competition for the Prince’s attention, and you have all the ingredients for some wonderfully over-the-top Rossini comedy.

Every fairy tale needs a little magic—and a little help behind the scenes.

Meet Patrick Scully, who plays Alidoro, Don Ramiro’s wise and watchful tutor.

Think of Alidoro as the fairy godfather of this particular Cinderella story. He sees beyond appearances, recognizes Cenerentola’s true character, and helps set the wheels of fate in motion.

And, of course, there’s a little Rossini comedy along the way!

Meet Arnold Livingston-Geis, who takes the stage as Don Ramiro, the Prince who falls for Cenerentola in Rossini’s delightful comedy.

But this isn’t your ordinary fairy tale prince. Disguises, mistaken identities, and a little bit of romantic chaos stand between Don Ramiro and his happily ever after!

Following his Salzburg Festival appearances, artistic director, Michael Spyres joins the NDR Radiophilharmonie for the 2026 Hannover Klassik Open Air, one of Germany’s largest outdoor classical music events.

Under the baton of chief conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky, Michael Spyres performs alongside mezzo-soprano Caterina Piva and baritone Ludovic Tézier today in Hanover’s Maschpark.

The program features highlights from some of opera’s most beloved works, including Bizet’s "Carmen" and "Les pêcheurs de perles", Saint-Saëns’ "Samson et Dalila", Massenet’s "Werther", Cilea’s "Adriana Lecouvreur", Verdi’s "Nabucco", "Otello and Rigoletto", and Puccini’s "Tosca".

Just weeks after his hugely acclaimed all-Baroque recital, Tenorissimo, Michael Spyres returns to the Salzburg Festival as one of the four soloists in Verdi’s monumental "Messa da Requiem", conducted by Riccardo Muti and performed by the Vienna Philharmonic. Performances take place today, August 15, and on August 16 and 18.

One of today’s most versatile and acclaimed tenors, the Missouri-born singer brings his extraordinary stylistic range, vocal brilliance, and dramatic insight to Verdi’s deeply moving masterpiece. The "Requiem" reunites him with Riccardo Muti, whose interpretations of Verdi have long been regarded as benchmarks, for one of the major concert events of this year’s Salzburg Festival.

Today’s opening performance will be broadcast live on Ö1, beginning at 11:03 a.m.

In July 1980, Springfield Regional Opera, now known as Ozarks Lyric Opera, presented Verdi’s La Traviata at the Gillioz Theatre. It would become the final performance before we closed our doors for decades.

This sign once hung at the top of the middle window of the old Gillioz Box Office (photo in the comments), which stood outside in the center of what is now our open entrance. After the theatre closed, a member of Ozarks Lyric Opera carefully kept the sign safe, not knowing if or when the Gillioz would ever reopen.

When the theatre was restored, Ozarks Lyric Opera eventually found a place on TheTHIRDFloor as one of our Gillioz Resident Companies. They shared the story with us and told us it was time for this piece to come home.
