June is National Pet Preparedness Month. Prepare for disasters for ALL of your family members:

1. Make sure your pets have identification. Permanent is best—microchipping pets, freezebranding livestock. Accessory neck bands, animal paint and other temporary ID tags, etc. work—keep with go kits.

2. Go kits for each animal—toys, grooming items, 2 weeks of food, water and meds, leash/collar, crate or containment, something that smells like you.

3. Consider your pets when making evacuation plans—transport, location amenities, access to food, water and you.

4. Practice your plan with your pets.
