The mission is to divert youth from juvenile justice or child welfare systems by providing access to comprehensive community based services aimed at prevention, diversion or treatment. provides services to at risk youth between the ages of 11 – 24 who are abused, neglected, runaway, locked out, truant, on probation, experiencing crisis or trauma, and/or homeless. Services provided to the individua

l and family members include crisis intervention, individual and family counseling, therapy, case management, advocacy, mentoring, shelter, after care, reunification services, outreach and information and referral to additional services not offered through YSB. Family members are also eligible for services. Our service area is Sangamon, Christian, Logan, Mason and Menard Counties. The agency also provides services to the older adolescent’s population who is experiencing homelessness or is at risk of becoming homeless. These services are provided to youth ages 16-24 and their children. The service addresses the needs of the older homeless adolescent and young adult by providing transitional shelter, subsidized apartment living, life skills, GED and HS diploma attainment, employment, and general independent living skills. All of the above services are provided to non-wards of the state and at no cost to individual or family. ICYMI: It's that time of year again! I'm kicking off my Summer Book Club for children who live in the 48th District.

Students who read eight books of their choice during the summer break, record the names of the books on a form, and return the form to one of my offices by Aug. 14 will receive a gift card and a certificate.

Many District 186 schools will be serving free breakfast and lunch for children over the summer. Any child may receive a meal, they do not have to be enrolled in District 186.

Meals must be eaten onsite, they are not available for pickup or delivery. Please call District 186 Food Service at 217-525-3046 with any questions.
