Noah Homes

Noah Homes Providing exceptional residential care for adults with disabilities since 1983. Work and a paycheck are important aspects of daily life.

With dreams, hope and dedication, Noah Homes opened in 1983 and over the next 20 years grew to become a dynamic community on 11 acres in the rural outskirts of San Diego. Today, there are 90 men and women whom we like to call “the folks,” celebrating life everyday on these beautiful grounds. We are working tirelessly to open the doors to the 200+ additional people on our waiting list. There are e

ight homes all named to reflect the strong Hispanic culture of San Diego such as Casa de Flores and Casa de Felicidad. Six are located on the main campus and two more are in the surrounding neighborhood. Noah Homes is an oasis of peace as well as a hub of activity and everyday is full of life and new experiences. The men and women who live at Noah Homes leave their homes each weekday morning to work in the community at a variety of jobs and activities. Some are earning salaries for positions with restaurants, bookstores, department stores, and other places of employment. Some are in work enclaves with the support of job coaches in garden and janitorial services, and others do contract work for local industry. Weekends are opportunities to participate in all that San Diego and the outlying areas have to offer. There are many choices each week for recreation, enrichment spectator sports, Special Olympics, and worship. Some of the favorites are Ice Skating, Padre games, and bowling. There is daily ongoing support and instruction at Noah Homes in the areas of personal care, independent living skills, problem solving, and leisure activities. Each of the folks is encouraged to grow as an individual as well as a respected member of the Noah Homes community.

The folks enjoyed the "suite life" at Petco Park earlier this week, thanks to the generosity of Paul and Carol Simmons! They enjoyed a delicious lunch together (and A+ service from the San Diego Padres crew) as they cheered on the home team. Thank you again to the Simmons and Hadaceks for a fun-filled Sunday afternoon at the ballpark.

Every Tuesday, we host line dancing classes in the Community Center. Many of our residents are big country music fans, so, of course, we had to pay tribute to the Queen of Country, Dolly Parton, who shared so much love with people of all abilities and backgrounds in her lifetime. Thank you to our incredible dance and movement instructor, Serena, for making yesterday’s class a special one. 💖

Congratulations are in order for our Design and Project Management Specialist, Avery Arthur! Avery is a finalist for the San Diego Business Journal's Indispensables. In the spring, the SDBJ called on businesses and organizations to nominate innovators, changemakers, problem solvers, department leaders, seasoned employees with institutional memory, rising stars, and more.

Avery is the heart and soul of Noah Homes’ two major fundraising events: Summerfest and the Enchanted Village Gala. She is a well-rounded, committed, and indispensable member of our team. She is genuinely passionate about her work and is always eager to learn more and develop new skills. Every department within our organization can affirm the positive impact she has on our staff, our residents, and our stakeholders.

Congratulations, Avery! View the partial list of finalists below.

Casa de Palmas and friends ventured to Catalina Island last month! The crew boarded the Catalina Express and embarked on a full day of adventures. From lunch at Coyote Joe's to an incredible glass-bottom boat tour (where some of the folks and staff got the opportunity to steer the ship) to a golf cart tour of the island, plus a visit to the Catalina Casino, everyone had a whale of a time together. Thank you so much to the families and staff who made this trip possible!

Thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, sponsors, and the families of Noah Homes, our recent Summerfest event raised $384,000 to advance our mission of providing exceptional residential care and choices to adults with developmental disabilities. While many individuals contributed to the event's success, we'd like to recognize one person whose creative spark helped supercharge the evening: Dr. Mary O’Connor, Vice President of the Board for Noah Homes.
