So many people and families dealing with emergency evacuations and not knowing when they can return to their homes, and what they will find when they do. The Spokane Colleges are collecting donations to support the community around their Inchelium campus impacted by the wildfires on the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

If you are willing and able, donations of items from the list below will be collected at the following drop off locations no later than noon on Friday, July 31st:

At SFCC please bring your donations to the EDI office in Building 30, Room 115.
At SCC please bring your donations to the CID in Building 6, Room 115
You can also bring donations to the WFSE Spokane Field Office at 225 W Main Ave, Spokane, WA 99201 by EOB on Thursday, July 30th and WFSE staff will coordinate drop-off with the Spokane Colleges.

Years of subpar pay and cuts -- everything the governor’s team has suggested as a SOLUTION at the negotiating table and in the legislature -- helped create the budget crisis we're now living through.

It's a time to reverse course, not double down.

They claim they can’t spend a single dime on the workers who keep this state running, yet pay out astronomical liability claims ($1b in the last 5 years alone), caused largely by running agencies with skeleton crews.

Meanwhile, construction is actively underway on an estimated $8.6 million project to restore the historic skylights in the House and Senate chambers.

That’s almost $9 million in taxpayer dollars so legislators can sit under soft ambient daylight while the folks who do the work are left in the dark.

We can think of better ways to use taxpayer dollars.

The fact that there isn't much money in the budget isn't the issue..

The issue is what Governor Bob Ferguson's team decides to do with the money we DO have.

You can't be the "employer of choice" when you make your employees the lowest priority.

If Washingtonians wants to know why state government is taking longer, why vulnerable children continue to fall through the cracks, why food for needy families isn’t getting where it needs to go, it's because many who do this work can't pay their bills, and many more people who would like to do this work can't afford to.
