Read about Ryan Wagoner π
When Ryan first presented to the Region 4 WDB Roane County Office, he was seeking assistance to obtain his Class A CDL and improve his employment opportunities.
As a resident of Calhoun County, he enrolled in the WIOA Dislocated Worker program and was scheduled to begin Class A CDL training at Roane-Jackson Technical Center in April 2025.
During the first week of training, Ryan experienced a significant life change as his family grew by one. Due to this, he struggled to meet the program's expectations and was ultimately dismissed from the training program. Despite this setback, Ryan remained motivated to work and was able to obtain employment shortly after.
In September 2025, Ryan returned to WIOA services after his employer went out of business. Determined to reach his original goal, he reengaged in training and successfully completed his Class A CDL.
Following completion, Ryan worked in a few positions before securing employment with CityNet as a Lead Fiber Specialist/CDL Truck Driver. He reports that he is happy in his current role and appreciates the stability it provides for his family. He is currently earning a living wage and is expected to receive a wage increase upon completion of full training.
Ryanβs story demonstrates resilience and determination. Although he faced challenges early in his training journey, he did not give up. With continued effort and support, he overcame those barriers and achieved a sustainable career path.
