The City of Spencer is sponsoring a FREE showing of How to Train Your Dragon on Wednesday, August 5, at 12:00 Noon at the Historic Robey Theatre.

Bring the kids, invite your friends, and enjoy an afternoon at one of Spencer's most treasured landmarks. Sit back, relax, and make one more great summer memory before school begins!

REMINDER: This Thursday is the Roane County Prevention Coalition Back to School Bash! This is a great chance to celebrate the start of the new school year, grab a backpack/supplies, and enjoy inflatables, giveaways, and more!

Join us at the Roane County Prevention Coalition's annual Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 4-7 PM at The Chapel Field. We will have free backpacks, some back to school supplies, prevention resources and other community resources, games, food, hourly door prizes, and inflatables. It will be fun for the whole family. A key aspect of primary prevention is having a plan in place BEFORE a crisis occurs. Check out this free online webinar from Legal Aid WV on how to create a mental health directive form, which is a written plan outlining what you would like to happen should you experience a mental health crisis. This is a great opportunity for anyone in the community to have a safety plan in place and have their wishes communicated clearly should a mental health emergency occur.

Good Morning!

This is a reminder that as opposed to our typical FRN/FSC monthly meeting, we will continue our annual tradition of foregoing our July meeting and instead encouraging our membership to attend the Back to School Bash backpack stuffing meeting instead. This project is a large undertaking, and having as many volunteers as possible helps it run smoothly and quickly.

*The Backpack Packing meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at The Chapel, located at 102 Chapman Avenue in Spencer, WV. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend!*


*Please be on the lookout for emails from us concerning plans for August. I am due to have my baby before our next meeting time and will likely begin a brief maternity leave depending on her arrival time. I will send updates to my colleagues at FSC and provide a coverage plan for my absence until we know how best to proceed with hiring due to DoHS funding delays.
