What a magical evening!

Summer Glow: Golden Hour Dreams for Children brought together wonderful friends, generous supporters, and a community that believes every child deserves to shine. As the sun set over beautiful Grosse Ile and a warm summer breeze filled the air, we gathered to celebrate, connect, and raise critical funds that will help children and families in our community.

Summer Glow supports early childhood programming and family resources at our agency and we could not do this important work without the individuals, organizations, groups and volunteers who support our mission.

Some statistics are difficult to read. This is one of them.

Behind every number is a child. A child who deserved to be safe. A child who deserved to be protected. A child who deserved to be heard.

The reality is that abuse is often committed by someone a child knows and trusts, making disclosure incredibly difficult. Many survivors carry their experiences in silence for years, and some never tell anyone at all.

Yet there is hope.

Every time a child finds the courage to speak, every time a caring adult listens, and every time a community chooses to believe and support children, healing becomes possible.

For 25 years, Kids-TALK has been a place where children can share their stories in a safe, supportive environment and begin their journey toward healing. While these statistics remind us of the challenges that remain, they also remind us why this work matters so deeply.

Together, we can create a community where children are protected, survivors are supported, and no child has to carry their burden alone.

It's event day! As the tents go up, the tablecloths are laid out, and the final details come together, we're thrilled to be greeted by beautiful sunshine and the excitement of what promises to be an incredible evening.

Summer Glow: Golden Hour Dreams for Children is more than just a celebration—it's a chance for our community to come together in support of children and families. We are so grateful to everyone who has helped make tonight possible.

The Guidance Center is honored and thrilled to work with a cadre of business, community and government leaders in Southeast Michigan -- including Dennis W. Archer, Jr., ESQ. and IGNITION MEDIA GROUP -- to focus on the critical expansion of the agency's Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy Center in the City of Detroit so that more children in Wayne County Michigan receive the life-saving services they need to heal.

Dennis, along with other key leaders, is passionate about our community and about protecting our children.

Today, he shared his personal experience and motivation in a special video in development to detail the powerful expansion plans for the Kids-TALK CAC in the near future.

We also are planning the 25th Anniversary Kids-TALK Gala at Michigan Central on Friday, September 18, 2026. It is a big year for this important program.
