This photo came up in my memories from six years ago when we were in Guatemala. Amanda Carol Sears and Megan Cuykendall made several missions trips as part of our LifeBridge Global Missions team while they were teenagers.
Now, Amanda is a high school Spanish teacher in Virginia and engaged to be married. She always noticed the easily overlooked and continues to meet the needs of others where they are at today.
Megan is now married and works for our missions partner World Help as the Acquisition Engagement Coordinator. She has been in Uganda leading a missions team the past couple weeks and will be returning to Uganda next year. Her passion for missions continues to grow!
I am so proud of the godly women these two have become. Can’t wait to see what God has next for these two ladies!
God teaches us on missions trips at the same time we are ministering to others.

Thursday we loaded the 65 food bags for Nueva Virginia and went to the school in the village. We were greeted by many in the village plus a mariachi singer!
Everyone made a cross necklace which was a reminder to let God direct their lives each day. There also was plenty of bubbles, beach balls, soccer balls and temporary tattoos.
After a lunch break, we went to the church where we passed out drawstring bags with school supplies for each student, a Bible, a picture of the team and two bags of food for each family.
We took a group picture and then had a candy scramble for the kids. The pastor and church leaders prayed for us and they gave us bowls of fresh fruit. Then can the sad goodbyes. We have grown to deeply love the people and goodbyes aren’t any easier!
Whether God allows us to someday return is unclear, but we rest in the knowledge that many have trusted Jesus as their Savior.

We started today packing food bags. We packed 65 (double bag) for our village and 305 sponsor bags. The power went out so our one fan became no fan in the humid upper 80’s temperatures.
After lunch we went to the orphanage, which has about 80 kids that live in family unit homes. We were asked not to photograph the kids. We brought joy with light up rings and balls, sun glasses, combs, toothbrush and toothpaste, temporary tattoos and a couple suckers. We also provided 2 soccer balls and 2 basketballs. We did a lot of showing God’s love to them.
We then stopped at a store that sells purses made by girls in the village. All proceeds go to Passion 4 Guatemala which gives scholarships for secondary students. It costs money to attend middle school and high school. Our ladies did their part to support this ministry.
The pictures show our crew with Nueva Virginia bags, our interpreter Hefziba (Ahchay) and our intrepid shoppers.
Tonight we finish prep for activities in Nueva Virginia tomorrow which promises fun, joy and probably some tears.

Today was our second day in our partner village. It was a great day. We did a second day of BBS like teaching, crafts and activities. The leader of the village even wore his new LifeBridge shirt!
Enjoy the pics.

Today we returned to our partner village Nueva Virginia. We started with greetings which included trying to recognize little friends who are now not so little.
We took pictures of each of the students individually, as well as pictures with friends and family.
Dan taught a lesson comparing the physical heart and the spiritual heart. Several raised hands to indicate that they prayed to give their life to God. We will be following up with them tomorrow. We had plastic bats and balls, jump ropes, pickle ball paddles , beach balls and bubbles to play with while we rotated groups into the school classroom for a heart craft.
Finally, kids and adults were able to get clothing including homemade dresses and shorts for kids and Lifebridge t shirts all.
Tomorrow promises to be another full day in the village.

Yesterday afternoon we toured the campus of Hope of Life, our home for the week. We visited the orphanage, the senior home, Kelly’s House (special needs), and the baby hospital among our many stops. Pictured is Ryan’s Place, a special needs playground that was dedicated 3 weeks ago.
Today we are on our way to our partner village Nueva Virginia. Pray that hearts are open as We share the gospel and love on our friends.

Our church visit was not what we expected today. We went to New Life Baptist Church. They were outgrowing their old building and two US churches came together to fund the construction of the new building. They started in December and finished in February. It’s beautiful! Pastor’s message was challenging.
Finished the day with a tour of Hope of Life (where we are staying) and sorting the mountain of things we brought. More pictures to follow.

Yesterday was a full day. We were at Metro Airport by 3:30 and didn’t arrive at our home for the week until close to 8 pm (9 pm Michigan time). Your prayers have been greatly appreciated.
After a nights sleep and a delicious breakfast, we are ready for church this morning. The rest of the day will be spent sorting supplies and prep for our village visit tomorrow.
