We're a group,(Coordinated by Nancy Eaton) mtg @ St Peter's Episc. ch, So Windsor, CT, who gives comfort to those going through tough issues, with our quilts.

Since 2007, we've been a group of quilters who previously (pre-covid-19), met once a month at St Mary's Episcopal Church to create and donate quilts (and other items) to those in need. We are now meeting again 'in-person', but at St Peter's Episcopal Church in South Windsor. Meetings will be on Saturdays, 9am- 2pm. Covid restrictions MAY require attending members to wear masks, but depending on the positivity rates, can forego being worn, if being socially distant. Here are the dates for this coming year (2022-2023). Sept 10th. Feb 4th
Oct 1st. Mar 4th
Nov 5th. Apr 1st
Jan 7th. May 6th
June 3rd

Our motto is ... "Start where we are, Do what we can, Use what we have and it will be enough"... -unknown

Statistics!!!

We just delivered 38 critters (they would have taken more if we had them-I didnt have more with me) to our 37th police station ( ),

11 agencies/programs

4 fire depts

And...
Our total Comfort Critters delivered is..... (drum roll...)... 1001 !!!

A "drop-in" stop at , Sgt Avdevich accepted 38 critters, since the CRO wasnt in today.

Lovely to connect with Officer Chris Valerio (CRO). They are very interested in taking 41 Comfort Critters. They have 30 cruisers and some Detective cars that we can supply with critters!
Left with dispatch as they had an all-out call everyone was on!!

I'm hoping to connect with another station (or two) down by the beaches, to conserve on gas! Anyone wanna do a road trip?

Since we are having a "slowdown" of critters (quilt making/wrapping) for the next couple of months, it doesnt mean we have none to deliver or to wrap! Currently, I have 78, in bags, in my dining room ready to head out to their "temporary homes" (police or other agencies). I also have 68 quilts that are Blessed that just need critters. No worries!!

I also have 3 police depts, near the coast, that I'm waiting to hear back from.

Sixty-seven quilts and 37 critters in quilts. Total getting Blessed is 104!!

Interesting call from Thomaston police Detective... the Chief wanted to know if they can forward our critters to their Ambulance Corp, as they would have more use of them, even if domestic calls come to them. Apparently, they dont think they would use them as often as the ambulance corp would.

Kathys last batch of little quilts for the yr (she has a project she needs to work on). Some finished... what is left, but will be done before lunchtime.

While I have "whittled" the creative side of me to 2-3 crafts that I do, one of which is quilting... I also do paint-poured ornaments, which I sell at craft fairs during the year. ( )

So imagine my surprise, at my last fair, when a woman came up to me, remembered seeing me in prior years, and remembered discussing my love of quilting -- (at that time, how we gave quilts to children's hospitals). When she asked if we still do that, I told her since covid, we changed strategies. I told her about our "Comfort Critters " project. She was so moved by how successful our last two years have proven, she asked if she could make a monetery donation. "ABSOLUTELY!"

Thank you to this unknown woman, who just was moved to donate on the spur of the moment. 💞

Fifteen critters, including our last Chase (paw patrol dog), was delivered to ( #36). Since it was further (50 min ride) than I normally go, I planned a birthday adventure -photo of us-for my hubby (with a couple of relatives) just down the street! No one minded the stop around the corner to make a great delivery!
