Peace by Piece Quilters

Peace by Piece Quilters We're a group,(Coordinated by Nancy Eaton) mtg @ St Peter's Episc. ch, So Windsor, CT, who gives comfort to those going through tough issues, with our quilts.

Since 2007, we've been a group of quilters who previously (pre-covid-19), met once a month at St Mary's Episcopal Church to create and donate quilts (and other items) to those in need. We are now meeting again 'in-person', but at St Peter's Episcopal Church in South Windsor. Meetings will be on Saturdays, 9am- 2pm. Covid restrictions MAY require attending members to wear masks, but depending on t

he positivity rates, can forego being worn, if being socially distant. Here are the dates for this coming year (2022-2023). Sept 10th. Feb 4th

You know how something is just meant to happen when you least plan it...?

I always carry critters in my car, just in case... not a lot. Maybe 5-6. While visiting my aunt in Granby at her nursing home, I brought the critters in to show her. She used to be a quilter and is ALWAYS excited to see our projects. (Her dementia allows me to bring the same 5 critters to show her, and she thinks they are new ones!)

After I left, I decided to head north to a country store in Granville, MA where they have THE BEST melted sandwiches and their own cheddar cheese!! After eating half my sandwich (tonight's leftovers), I asked the cashier if Granville has its own police station. "Yup! Its right up the road on the left". "Do they have a large fleet of cruisers?" "No... the Sherriffs car, and a truck or two".

PERFECT!

I headed up and spoke to Chief Rick Rindels, who was very happy to take my 5 critters in my car!!

What a busy delivery day...52 miles RT.

Total critters given out 837.

First stop was Troop K where Kristen (I hope I spelled it correctly) accepted 30 critters, since their 30 officers all have their own cruisers.

Next stop, where Lt Burgin (and Beth) accepted 10 critters for their cruisers and 12 critters for the Social Services, who they work closely with (Thanks, Christine Wiesner).

Glad I could do it in one short "swoop" to save on gas.

Ten, soon to be delivered to East Hampton police, this week. Will take photo when they arrive. We even have "Chase" (paw patrol) to include! Thank you Chief (and Beth).

Whew!!

All Blessed critters/quilts from Sunday are bagged and ready for deliveries (unknown at this time).

A few critters had to be adjusted (as they found a quilt they liked better, lol), and I KNEW I had a Minnie mouse quilt, and found a Minnie mouse critter! SWITCH! There really is a lot of thought process when matching critters...!

I also put an order in for another 200 bags! Two critters are waiting for bigger ziplocks to be bought. Oh what fun!.....

Well, here we are!
All 91 critters and their quilts getting Blessed!!

When I get them home (not attempting to in this pouring rain) and bag them, I'll lay out Kim's quilts that she made and brought yesterday to photograph.

There were so many, some had to sit off to the left, in chairs!
