We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping families provide human milk for their babies, through peer-to-peer support, encouragement, information, and education. The mission of La Leche League International is to help families reach their own personal breastfeeding/chestfeeding/human-milk-feeding goals and to promote a better community understanding of breastfeeding
as an important element in the healthy development of the baby, parents, and community . We are committed to diversity and inclusion. We support all breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human-milk-feeding families, inclusive of their race, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, primary language, ability, or socio-economic status. At La Leche League of Connecticut (LLLCT) meetings, Group attendees are encouraged to share their human milk feeding experience, offer suggestions and provide encouragement to one another. La Leche League meetings are a wonderful place to create friendships as you travel along your parenthood journey.
-Babies and toddlers are always welcome at La Leche League meetings.
-Meetings are always FREE.
-Expectant parents are encouraged to attend. Now is the perfect time to build your breastfeeding support system.
-You may hear a variety of life experiences and ideas at LLL meetings. Meeting attendees are encouraged to take what works and leave the rest.
-Some parents worry about a fussy baby at a meeting. The most important thing you can do at a LLL meeting is tend to the needs of your child. Parents are encouraged to nurse, change diapers, or bounce around the room with a fussy baby. In addition to monthly meetings, Group Leaders are available for telephone, text, and email support. La Leche League Leader volunteers are experienced human milk feeding parents accredited by La Leche League International. Leaders know the importance of one parent helping another to recognize and understand the needs of their child and to find the best means of fulfilling those needs. Leaders provide information and support so that each family can make the decisions that work best for them. All parents feeding human milk to their infants, babies, and toddlers are welcome to attend La Leche League of Connecticut meetings. Accredited Leaders facilitate conversation and help answer breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding questions. All families of every description are welcome. Bring your child(ren), your partner or support person, and whatever you need to feed your baby comfortably. For immediate breastfeeding, chestfeeding, or human milk feeding assistance by phone, our HELPLLLINE is available at 860-222-0990
