Utah Fencing Foundation overview:
Utah Fencing Founda

tion (UFF) is a 501c3 educational organization founded in 2014 by Konstantin Gritsaev. Its mission to “Give an opportunity to every youth to experience great sport of fencing”. Utah Fencing Foundation looks to bring fencing to any school or organization, especially those that focus on funding the sports and education for under-resourced communities. Professional coaches and fencing equipment are provided by Utah Fencing Foundation and Utah Swords Academy so students can experience the sport of fencing. Currently Utah Fencing Foundation is working on Wheel Chair Fencing program through out state of Utah and needs your help!. More then 50 years of experience teaching fencing to youth and adults

The Utah Fencing Foundation(a 501C3 Non-Profit), in conjunction with the Utah Swords Academy Fencing Club is establishing a wheelchair fencing program in Utah and asks for your help purchasing required equipment for wheelchair fencers. Send them our way. Thank you in advance for your donation. About Wheelchair Fencing

Wheelchair fencing is one of two Paralympic combat sports. Wheelchair Fencing is open to men and women with locomotive disabilities. The modern sport of Wheelchair Fencing is a blend of mental agility, speed and tactics and part of the Paralympic program since the first Games at Rome 1960 and currently is practiced in 34 countries. Wheelchair Fencing is a fantastic sport for disabled athletes and thanks to the London 2012 Paralympics it is being discovered by more and more wheelchair users. Our aim is to demonstrate what wheelchair fencing is all about by giving you an introduction to the rules, equipment and details of how you can get started with wheelchair fencing. "Wheelchair Fencing is a really fast sport, you don’t have a chance to stop. You always have to be alert and it's highly competitive." I am not sure what the correct name for this competition was, but it's something like the Utah Southern Idaho Division and Friends and Utah Summer Games. I'm pretty sure this was the biggest and best fencing event of the season and thanks to Valkyrie Fencing and Salt City Swords for making it happen and to all the fencers who came and partied. And for making it Walk N Roll.

Stephanina Michaelis was the only Parafencer to enter, but she fenced six events and had ship loads of fun. She also earned her "C" in mixed Epee, won Women's Epee, took Silver in Women's Saber against V50 World Saber Champion Julie Seal (because the event went directly to the final 'cuz everyone else had to take a medical. Iron Women those two are.) Attached is a photo of the Mixed epee medalists won by the Colossus of Rhodes, aka Zac Hansen.

UPDATE: There is a live feed of the semis and finals at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrBCSuCGSFE

The US is hosting a Parafencing World Cup in Bradenton, Florida May 27 - 30. You might think this is "News" that would appear on US Fencing's Home page, but you need to go to the events tab and then down to 2026 Para WC Bradenton https://www.usafencing.org/paraworldcup2026 to get info, which includes a schedule. It also includes a section "Essential Information" with a link to Fencing Time, where, if you are persistent and lucky, you will find https://www.fencingtimelive.com/tournaments/eventSchedule/7DA6F3FE1B6F4A9292663A2ECBAE7AEA Presumably, days other than the 27th will fill in as time passes. Everything there is to know about what is going on on the pistes will appear here, 'live', eventually. Not all World Cups use Fencing Time for tournament management. Be happy. The official archive of all World Parafencing results is on Ophardt - Bradenton is here: https://iwas.ophardt.online/en/widget/event/629

US Fencing has been testing expanded video streaming. At the last NAC in Richmond, they streamed pools from selected piste/pistes, semis, and finals. Despite some glitches, it's awesome! I can find no info that this is happening for Bradenton, but I will be checking US Fencing's YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com//videos Wednesday morning. World Para Fencing has a link https://parafencing.org/competitions/livestream/ that suggests something will be there, and they have a YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTnzFhDigJXhORjkBFAAihg where something may appear. None of this stuff goes live until the day and time of.

UFF wishes you luck. Updates appreciated in Comments. Improvements in future publicity by sponsors would be greatly appreciated!

I can't keep up with everything worth posting, but here's one. Stephanina Michaelis added to her Gold and National Championship in Women's Para Epee with a silver in Foil. Ellen Geddes, a US multi-Paralympian, won the gold and her first National Championship. She's a Category B fencer, and Nationals are fenced combined Cat A and B. Happy for you Ellen, and kick butt in upcoming Paralympic qualifications!!!

Back to Stephanina. She likes saber. Actually she likes saber, foil and epee, and kicking people in the head. She changed sports because kicking people in the head got harder when she lost one foot. So, she also won the National Championship in saber, coming from behind to win over Olivia Scott and earn an E26 Rating in a field of 15.

I've been cheering for wheelchair/Para/Seated Fencing for more than a dozen years, and, while only one can get Gold, everyone who has fun is a winner. So please keep it fun!

Update on Budapest Parafencing World Cup

After Day 1, Foil for men and Epee for women, all US fencers made the cut and advanced to DEs. The men all earned top 32 finishes, while zonal rivals achieved a top 16 in Cat A and a top 4 in Cat B. The women also all earned top 32 Cat A finishes. No zonal rivals participated. There were no Cat B Women's Epee fencers from the Americas Zone. UFF's newcomer, Stephanina Michaelis, finished as top USA Women's fencer, losing to the Gold medalist, Xufeng ZOU, in her first ever international DE. She had FUN, learned a lot, and made one of many new friends. 😀 Josh Russell had the best Men's finish with 17th in Men's epee.
