The Christmas Box International

The Christmas Box International We defend children who are abused, neglected, trafficked, or facing homelessness.

Currently there are three Christmas Box Houses in Utah: Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Moab. These 365 days-a-year facilities serve as emergency shelters for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Christmas Box Rooms, including one located in Utah County, are resource centers for foster families and teens transitioning into adult living. In addition, Christmas Box Int

ernational supports several schools and orphanages in countries throughout the world, including: India, Peru, Taiwan, Africa, Haiti and The Philippines.

Behind every person who serves is a person who choses to show up with compassion, generosity, and care.

From organizing donations to supporting events to helping create welcoming spaces for children and families, our volunteers make this work possible in countless ways.

Thank you to every member of our community who gives their time to help support children in need.

It takes a lot of people to create a place where children feel supported. From those who give, to those who serve, to those who show up every day—each role matters. Together, we create spaces that feel steady, welcoming, and full of care. Thank you for being part of it.

Each year, The Christmas Box International’s Transitioning to Adult Living Program supports more than 1,500 young people, ages 14 to 22, who are aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness.

For many, this stage of life comes with overwhelming challenges—navigating independence without the stable support systems many of us take for granted.

Through partnerships with state and county agencies, these young people are connected to essential community resources and provided with move-in kits—helping transform empty spaces into places they can call home.

But this support goes beyond housing.

It’s about stability.
It’s about dignity.
It’s about reminding them they are not alone.

Because every young person deserves more than survival—
they deserve a place to belong, and a foundation to thrive.

Children entering foster care or emergency shelter often carry the weight of experiences no child should have to endure. Trauma-informed care recognizes this—and responds with patience, understanding, and compassion.

It means meeting children where they are.
It means building trust.
It means recognizing that behavior is often communication.

Through trauma-informed approaches, The Christmas Box Emergency Shelters ensures that every interaction supports healing rather than causing further harm.

Awareness matters. Because the way we care for children today shapes who they become tomorrow.
