I would say a younger vet because we were not allowed to have phones. Let alone our only phones to use were on the wall and don't get caught on it.

Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Navy!

Since October 13, 1775, the men and women of the United States Navy have answered the call to serve and defend our nation across the seas and around the world.

Today, Operation Injured Soldiers proudly honors every Sailor who has served, those serving today, and the families who have stood beside them.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our country.

Happy Birthday, U.S. Navy!

Taking care of our own.

🍁 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ TWO WEEKS AWAY! WE STILL NEED SPONSORS! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ 🍁

We're getting closer to the 5th Annual Operation Freedom Ride on Saturday, October 24, and we're still looking for businesses, organizations, and individuals who would like to help sponsor this year's fundraiser!

This event is about more than getting together for a great day of riding through Northern Michigan's fall colors. It's about raising money for Brave Hearts Estate and the veterans and families we serve.

For those who may not know, Brave Hearts Estate is a retreat in Pellston, Michigan, where veterans and their families can come to relax, reconnect, and enjoy time away from everyday struggles, all at no cost to them.

That's why these fundraisers and your support are so important!

We're asking our local businesses and supporters to consider becoming a sponsor. Whether it's $100, $250, $500, or whatever you can contribute, every donation helps us continue our mission of taking care of our own.

You can see a lot in two military ID photos.

The first one shows a young person just starting their journey. Young face. Bright eyes. Ready to take on whatever comes next.

Then you look at one of their last military photos.

Same person, but somehow different.

A little older. A little more seasoned. The smile might not be as big. The eyes have seen things they hadn't seen before.

Some call it the thousand yard stare.

Military service has a way of changing you. The experiences, the people you served beside, the ones you lost, the good days and the hard ones. You carry pieces of all of it with you long after the uniform comes off.

For many veterans, those two pictures tell a story that words never could.

At Operation Injured Soldiers, we understand that service doesn't always end when the uniform comes off.

Taking care of our own.

OPERATION RENEWED HOPE: THE SPIRITUAL ARMOR

For many veterans, strength has always meant pushing forward, completing the mission, and taking care of the person beside you. But after the uniform comes off, we sometimes discover that strength can also come from something deeper.

On October 14th at 5:30 PM, join Operation Injured Soldiers and Josh Zoerhof for our next Operation Renewed Hope roundtable:

πŸ™ The Spiritual Armor: Faith Practices for Inner Strength
We’ll talk about faith, purpose, hope, and the practices that can help us stay grounded when life gets heavy. This isn’t about having all the answers or telling anyone what they should believe. It’s about veterans coming together for an open conversation about finding strength when we need it most.

You fought alongside others while you served. You don’t have to fight the battles afterward alone either.
