⭐️STAR AWARD⭐️

The best teachers are a part of your life, always.

Congratulations to Mrs. Milton, a first-grade teacher at Hardy Elementary, who was honored with a Star Award from the Palmer family. This is what they wrote about Mrs. Milton: "For going above and beyond for Jessa, always showing genuine care and dedication to her success. Her support, advocacy, and commitment to meeting Jessa’s needs have made a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful."

The best teachers are a part of your life, always ❤️

❤️📚BOOK DRIVE FOR SL TEACHERS!! ❤️📚

Congratulations to Aria Allman, the 2026 Perseverance Award scholarship winner from South Lyon High School!

Take a look at her activities, responsibilities and accomplishments, and it's clear that Aria wakes up every morning looking for ways to change the world. Eagle Scout. Drum Major. Stage Manager. NHS & Link Crew. Tutor. Assistant Teacher at The Learning Experience. Triplet. More than 100 hours of volunteer service to various local organizations. Most remarkable, though, is that she is a groundbreaker, an innovator, a pathfinder. She was the first person to take AP Music Theory at SLHS, and part of the first class to pilot a work-based, hands-on learning program, where she was able to explore her passion for teaching. All of these things were possible, she says, because of the confidence, courage and experiences she gained from being a girl in Boy Scouts of America. She wrote: "I will never forget sitting at the table listening to our female leaders discussing who we could hang out with, talk to, and even what other leaders we could be alone with. I knew the boys weren’t having the same conversation. National Jamboree was around the corner and the fate of girls in scouts lay on our shoulders." Aria went on to be named quartermaster, led knife and first aid skills in the wilderness, and earned her Eagle Scout. She credits her perseverance in overcoming the unique challenges girls faced in the scouting world for helping forge her determination and work ethic.

Aria will be attending Alma College in the fall to study education, and we know she'll continue to make a difference wherever she goes. Congratulations, Aria! 💙💛

Congratulations to Saghana Parasuraman, the 2026 Perseverance Award scholarship winner from South Lyon East!

At school, Saghana has shown herself to be a dedicated scholar, student leader and accomplished volunteer - President of HOSA, President of the East Debate Team, President and Founder of the East Chess Club, the Executive Vice-President of Student Council, the Co-Captain and Head Rookie Coach for the Mock Trial Team, and a member of National Honor Society who has served her community remarkably. While she was trailblazing these academic and extracurricular successes, however, at home her family was encountering several significant challenges - a very serious medical diagnosis for her father that required extensive treatment and, as this was ongoing, her mother broke her dominant arm and was sidelined from many of the basic tasks needed to keep everyone going. Saghana wrote: "Cooking dinner every night and mowing the lawn became regular parts of my routine. It didn’t matter whether I was tired or stressed; I knew that I would do whatever it took to take care of my family. And that commitment to myself and those around me has become an integral part of my character, present in everything I have done since."

Saghana will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall, where she will no doubt continue to do great things. Congratulations, Saghana - your strength and perseverance make us all proud! 🖤🩶

🖤STUDENT GRANT IMPACT: BAGS OF HOPE🖤

We're so inspired by a group of dedicated young leaders at South Lyon East who realized that when teens don't have access to basic hygiene products, they often struggle with attendance, bullying and self-worth. These students established a project called, "Bags of Hope," and made it their goal to help support those who can't afford hygiene products by making them available for free at East.

Thanks to a 2026 student grant from SLEF, the students have now set up and organized a hygiene closet at SLEHS! We're very proud of their commitment to serve others and make a difference right here in their own school community.
