Congratulations to Aria Allman, the 2026 Perseverance Award scholarship winner from South Lyon High School!
Take a look at her activities, responsibilities and accomplishments, and it's clear that Aria wakes up every morning looking for ways to change the world. Eagle Scout. Drum Major. Stage Manager. NHS & Link Crew. Tutor. Assistant Teacher at The Learning Experience. Triplet. More than 100 hours of volunteer service to various local organizations. Most remarkable, though, is that she is a groundbreaker, an innovator, a pathfinder. She was the first person to take AP Music Theory at SLHS, and part of the first class to pilot a work-based, hands-on learning program, where she was able to explore her passion for teaching. All of these things were possible, she says, because of the confidence, courage and experiences she gained from being a girl in Boy Scouts of America. She wrote: "I will never forget sitting at the table listening to our female leaders discussing who we could hang out with, talk to, and even what other leaders we could be alone with. I knew the boys weren’t having the same conversation. National Jamboree was around the corner and the fate of girls in scouts lay on our shoulders." Aria went on to be named quartermaster, led knife and first aid skills in the wilderness, and earned her Eagle Scout. She credits her perseverance in overcoming the unique challenges girls faced in the scouting world for helping forge her determination and work ethic.
Aria will be attending Alma College in the fall to study education, and we know she'll continue to make a difference wherever she goes. Congratulations, Aria! 💙💛
