AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Ace von Achtrup

Ace von Achtrup is a delightful 4-year-old German Shepherd-mix with a friendly, outgoing and happy personality. He looks to be mostly German Shepherd, with a touch of something else. Ace is ready for any adventure and adores human connection, he'll rub right up against you to ask for pets and affection and is very eager to please and to learn. He knows "sit" and "down" and takes treats gently. He starts his outings with enthusiasm and is polishing his leash manners. He's so happy to be out and about exploring and meeting new people and pup friends. In playgroups, he's a relatively calm, social mingler who happily greets other dogs and checks in often with people. At times he enjoys some play but tends to gravitate to people. Full of heart, Ace can hardly wait to share life's adventures with you. No cats, please.

Dixie von Dierdorf is a beautiful 2–3 -year-old German Shepherd-mix. Dixie and Lana came from the same family, in case you are looking for a pair. Her happy-go-lucky charm lights up every room she enters! Our best guess is that Dixie might be part lab - both from her looks and her all-around adaptable personality - what a great mix that makes! Her whole body wiggles when she greets you. She is such a joyful, people-loving sweetheart. On walks, her perky curiosity quickly settles into an easy, happy rhythm right alongside you, and she’s a gentle, friendly pal whether strolling with other pups or cruising through the yard with a happily wagging tail to explore every scent. This girl does so well with other dogs that she's currently sharing space at the rescue with several others. Not only that, she's passed her cat testing. We think our charming and versatile Dixie will do well in many homes. With her curious spirit, affectionate nature, she is ready to bound into your heart and fill your home with endless love, laughter, and cheerful tail wags!

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Bravo von Brunsbek

Bravo von Brunsbek a gorgeous 9-month-old German Shepherd mixed with a tad of something else which gives him adorable white mittens and a white tip on his tail. He just radiates kindness. Full of youthful happiness and enthusiasm, he is an affectionate boy who loves greeting people with big smiles and sweet doggy kisses, and he loves other dogs too. He was found with Baron, likely his brother, and they are a great ready-made pair if you're considering two dogs. Bravo is a fantastic partner for daily walks; he takes leash guidance well and handles group walks alongside other dogs like a champ. In playgroups he shines too, showing off an endearingly goofy chase and play-bow style while remaining respectful of social cues from other dogs. His commands are coming along well, as is his leash training. This happy boy is looking for a loving and active home, maybe with his brother or with another playful pup (no cats please). Although the brothers were found in the Central Valley, they have adjusted well to city life. They love Westside - a last-minute call saved them, and before they knew it, they were on a private plane to L.A.

Lana von Liebstadt is a beautiful 2-year-old long-haired German Shepherd. Lana and Dixie came from the same family, in case you are looking for a pair. The ultimate heart-stealer, the way Lana looks at you with her soulful, loving eyes makes any day a better one. Very devoted, sweet and attentive, her true joy in life is simply being near her humans. She'll happily offer her paw and quickly make you feel like the center of her universe. Once settled into her stride, she is a lovely walking companion who loves strolling by your side. She lived with another dog before and does fine around other dogs on walks at the rescue and in doggy playgroups, where occasionally she'll join in some play. She says no to cats, however. Beautiful Lana is ready to be your devoted and loving friend.

Today is Saturday, October 31st, and it is time to meet Pickle in the 2026 Dog of the Day calendar.

Pickle is a goofy, playful, and sweet girl with a big heart and lots of love to give. We adopted her from Westside as a wee pup in 2018. She’s a wonderful companion to our other Westside alum, Alexa, and a great addition to our family, always keeping us entertained and making sure we feel safe with her watchful, protective nature. She also takes her job as backyard security very seriously, keeping an eye out for any rats or squirrels that dare to enter her territory!

Pickle’s favorite thing in the world is a good tennis ball, but if she can’t find one, a lemon picked straight from the tree will do just fine! She also has a special interest in her 3 cats and can often be found sniffing around them or trying to convince them to play with her. One of her sweetest qualities is being an amazing foster sister to every foster dog who has come through our home. She welcomes her foster siblings with her playful spirit and loving personality, helping make each one feel right at home.

Pickle brings so much love, laughter, and personality to our family and we can’t imagine living life without her!

UPDATE: GRAHAM HAS BEEN ADOPTED

♥️🐾 If you are looking for a calm, gentle, easygoing and people-loving dog, please consider meeting GRAHAM (approximately 2-3 years old). He will be your most loyal, well-manned companion who just wants to be by your side and make you happy🐾♥️

Graham absolutely loves people and is so eager to please. He leans into you to get pets and affection and will sneak in some kisses too!♥️

Graham is social, affectionate and engaging. He has a medium energy level, walks perfectly on leash (no pulling), knows his basic commands and takes treats very gently from your hand. He is very well-behaved at the rescue, on pack walks, the monthly hike to the Griffith Observatory and off-site adventures.

Please consider opening your home to this sweet boy! Graham will need to be your one and only pet. He minds his own business around other dogs, preferring to avoid face-to-face greetings but does just fine walking along in a pack of dogs or being in a playgroup with dogs who respect his space.
