4-H Camp is in need of cardboard (larger pieces) for workshops:

If you unwrap a new TV, appliance, or anything that comes in a giant or large cardboard box … we’d LOVE to give that box a second life at 4-H Camp 2026!
Our June workshop needs big cardboard, and your leftover boxes could become someone’s awesome camp project.
If you’ve got one to donate, send us a message—or just drop it off at the Somerset County Extension office.
Thank you for helping to make our 4-H Camp an amazing experience for our youth.

It's time to speak up! 🎤🎤🎤

Registration is now open for the 2026 PA 4‑H State Presentation and Public Speaking Contests.

Both events will be held virtually on July 22 as two separate contests. Youth are welcome to participate in one or both contests.

The Presentation Contest challenges 4‑H members to demonstrate their skills in planning, organizing, and delivering educational demonstrations. A presentation focuses on a project‑related topic and involves teaching or physically demonstrating how to complete a specific phase of a project. Presentations may be given by either an individual or a team.

The Public Speaking Contest supports county public speaking programs while helping 4‑H members build strong communication skills. This contest focuses on speech content, organization, and delivery.

Registration is now open for the 4‑H Hooked on Fishing Virtual Derby!

The Pennsylvania 4‑H Hooked on Fishing Virtual Derby is a statewide, catch‑and‑release fishing event open to all Pennsylvania 4‑H members ages 5–18, including Cloverbuds. The event will be held from July 3–5, 2026.

Participants may fish any time between July 3rd and 5th and can submit entries for multiple catch‑and‑release award categories. This virtual format allows youth to fish from any local fishing spot during the derby weekend — making participation flexible, accessible, and fun!
