Jennie Lou Coffey Stanley, age 85, of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at her residence. Jennie Lou was born on August 11, 1938 to Alton Coffey and Cloria Coffey at Oneida, TN. She was married to Charles Richard Stanley in 1957 and they shared 61 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 23, 2019. Jennie was a friend to many…. she loved her church and was faithful to the Women’s Ministries. She loved her family, she was a passionate member of Somerset Democratic Women’s Club and a dedicated supporter of Somerset Business and Professional Womens Club. You may have shared delicious meals, as well as conversations with Jennie Lou, at Holiday Restaurant where she owned and worked for several years.

Jennie is survived by her granddaughters, Jennie Elizabeth “Beth” Stanley; and Rebecca Ann “Becky” Stanley Spradlin and her husband, Keith; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Vaught and Lorelei Spradlin, and one nephew Jerry Wade Phillips of Knoxville, TN.

Along with her parents and her husband Charles Richard Stanley, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles (Rick) Richard Stanley, Jr.; and her daughter, Stacy Ann Stanley Weaver and her siblings.

Visitation for Jennie Lou Stanley will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42501.

The funeral service will follow at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral on August 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Christina Brannock officiating.

Inurnment will be at Mill Springs National Cemetery on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 1:30 pm.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and fellow member, Jennie Stanley. Jennie was a passionate and dedicated member and past president of our club for 21 years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and share her knowledge and expertise. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

We extend our deepest condolences to Jennie's loved ones during this difficult time. Jennie's legacy will live on through the impact she made in our club and community. Rest in peace, dear Jennie. You will be missed.

Miranda Lyons! Member since 2022.

Miranda Lyons is the Principal Real Estate Broker and owner of Prosperity Real Estate in Somerset, Kentucky. She graduated from The University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition in 2006 and a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2010.

Miranda started her career in medicine and worked in various specialties including dermatology, urgent care, emergency medicine, internal medicine, as well as the health insurance industry with medical appeals and grievances. She started investing in real estate during her medical career. In May of 2021 she decided to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams and opened Prosperity Real Estate. The independent boutique agency provides full service real estate services to the Lake Cumberland area.

Miranda has an innate ability to communicate and connect with others allowing her to easily adapt and transition to various environments. Her empathetic personality and diagnostic problem solving skills help to create a personalized real estate experience for her clients. Her special interests include working with health care professionals, real estate investments, and commercial properties.

Miranda lives in her hometown of Somerset with her husband Kenny, two children, Sebastian and Kadence, and their dog Columbia. In addition to real estate, she is currently an adjunct instructor with Somerset Community College where she teaches an Anatomy and Physiology course.

Miranda is involved with the community and is a member of the Lake Cumberland Young Professionals Club, Business Professional Women’s Club, The Somerset Junior Woman’s Club, National Association of Realtors, and the Kentucky Association of Realtors.

She has been described as a “serial entrepreneur” and has dreams to become more involved in the construction and property development sector in the future. Currently she is in the process of opening a new local gift shop with a strong community focus.

BPW Sister Spotlight 🌟

Justice Debra Lambert has been a member of Somerset BPW since 2018 and embodies the BPW spirit of advocacy and leadership. Debra Hembree Lambert was elected to the Supreme Court of Kentucky in November 2018. She serves the 3rd Supreme Court District, which is composed of 25 counties.

Justice Lambert came to the Supreme Court after four years on the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Prior to taking the appellate bench, Justice Lambert was a Circuit Judge/ Family Court Division for the 28th Judicial Circuit, composed of Lincoln, Pulaski and Rockcastle counties. She was appointed to that seat in 1999 by then-Governor Paul E. Patton. While a Family Court judge, she created the first Drug Court in the area. She was recognized for her efforts in 2002 when the National Association of Drug Court Professionals inducted her into the Stanley M. Goldstein Drug Court Hall of Fame. For several years, she volunteered in area middle schools, working 10 weeks each semester with at-risk children and families in an effort to help them avoid truancy charges. Justice Lambert currently volunteers as a certified su***de prevention trainer, training others how to properly intervene to prevent su***de.

Chief Justice John D. Minton appointed Justice Lambert as Chair of the newly created Kentucky Judicial Mental Health Commission in 2022. In that role she will lead a large group of key stakeholders in a statewide effort to improve how judicial processes affect cases where parties have mental health, substance use or intellectual disabilities.

A native of Bell County, Ky, Justice Lambert earned a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University, where she graduated with distinction. She went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1989. Justice Lambert practiced law in Mount Vernon, Ky, serving as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and City Attorney for the city of Mount Vernon. In 2007, Justice Lambert resumed her private practice of law in Mount Vernon until her election to the Court of Appeals in 2014.

Justice Lambert and her husband, Joseph Sharpe, reside on Lake Cumberland in Burnside in Pulaski County. She is the mother of two sons, Joseph Patrick Lambert and John Ryan Lambert, and two stepdaughters, Jessica Sharpe Guffey and Chelsea Sharpe Woolums. She is also the Nonna of Sam Stringer, Collin Guffey, and George Guffey.
