2026 Barren Heights Family Retreat

What Is a Barren Heights Retreat?

Barren Heights provides free weekend retreats for families impacted by physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.
Located in Scottsville, KY. 🙂
Our goal is simple: Rest, Refresh, Reconnect
Families spend a weekend being cared for, enjoying time together, and connecting with others who understand their journey.

What Families Receive

A private, fully accessible cabin
All meals prepared and provided
A trained volunteer host family
Fun activities for all ages
Time to rest, play, and connect
A completely free weekend away

Who can attend?

Families impacted by physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities
Families with rare or uncommon diagnoses are welcome
There is no age limit for children
ADHD alone does not qualify

When are retreats held?

June through October 2026
Friday evening through Sunday afternoon

What does it cost?

The retreat weekend itself is provided at no cost to guest families. Lodging, meals, and activities are all covered through the generosity of our donors and volunteers. To reserve a retreat spot, we do ask families to submit a $50 refundable deposit. This deposit is fully refunded after attending the retreat or if a cancellation is made more than 30 days before the scheduled retreat date. We never want finances to be a barrier. Financial assistance is available for families who are unable to afford the deposit, and families can request assistance during the application process.
