This June 6th, Sons Of Thunder Boxing Club is doing more than hosting a fight card , they’re honoring the legacy of the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.

The Operation Overlord Invitational stands as a tribute to courage, sacrifice, discipline, and the warrior spirit shared by both our military and competitive athletes. Every punch thrown, every round fought, and every ounce of preparation reflects the same grit and determination that has defined generations of American service members.

In true military tradition, every winner will receive a custom challenge coin ; not bought, but earned. A symbol of commitment, toughness, honor, and stepping forward when it matters most.

Whether you’re a Veteran, active duty, first responder, boxing fan, or simply someone who appreciates the sacrifices made for our freedoms, this promises to be an incredible evening of action-packed amateur boxing and remembrance.

Today, we pause as a Post, as Veterans, and as Americans to remember the brave men and women who never made it home, or those who lost their battle to the war within.

We remember the faces, the laughter, the stories, and the sacrifices of our fallen Comrades who gave everything in service to this Nation. Their absence is felt not only on Memorial Day, but every single day by those who served beside them, loved them, and continue carrying their memory forward.

At VFW Post 269, we will never forget those who stood the watch before us. We honor them not only with words, but through the way we live, the way we serve our community, and the way we continue looking after one another.

Their sacrifices secured the freedoms we enjoy today, and it is now our duty to ensure their legacy lives on for future generations.

May we always remember: Some gave all.

To our fallen Comrades, your mission is complete. We have the watch from here. 🫡

Join us this Memorial Day at VFW Post 269 for a BBQ as we come together as Veterans, families, and community members to remember our fallen Comrades whose sacrifices secured the freedoms we enjoy today.

⏰ Begining at 12PM EST

Our membership will be firing up the grill with hamburgers and hotdogs, while our Auxiliary will be providing sides. Feel free to bring a favorite dish, dessert, or anything you’d like to share as we gather together in fellowship and remembrance.

Comrades, don’t forget our All-Post Meeting is tonight, Thursday, May 21st at VFW Post 269!

🍽 Dinner: 6:00 PM EST
📋 Meeting: 7:00 PM EST

Tonight’s meal will be ham & cheese sandwiches with salad. 🥪🥗
Desserts or side dishes are always welcome and appreciated!

These meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, strengthen camaraderie, and continue working together for the good of our Veterans, families, and community!
