The Town of Somers Economic Development Commission is proud to celebrate Pleasant View Farms — a true cornerstone of our town's agricultural heritage!

Established in 1918 as a dairy farm, this family-owned operation has grown through four generations — and is well on its way to a fifth. Today, brothers Jacob and Louis Lipton carry on the family tradition while innovating to meet the demands of a changing industry.

What started as a traditional dairy has blossomed into a diversified agricultural business serving customers across Connecticut and New England. Pleasant View Farms offers premium hay, straw, feed, and grain — plus a retail farm store stocked with bedding, livestock supplies, and locally raised beef through their PVF Red Angus program (individual cuts, plus half and whole beef for the freezer!).

To mark their 40th anniversary, The LEGO Foundation has launched a new global research Fellowship — awarding up to 10 early- and mid-career researchers USD 300,000 over three years to study how children thrive. The program focuses on three urgent areas shaping children's lives today: children in crisis and conflict settings, neurodivergent children and inclusion, and children's learning and development in an AI-enabled world.

If you — or someone you know in our community — has a passion for shaping children's lives in these areas, this could be a meaningful opportunity. Applications are open now through July 31, 2026.

The Town of Somers Economic Development Commission is pleased to share that the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC) will open the next round of its Accelerate Grant Program on June 15, offering $25,000 grants to support strategic investments that help women-owned businesses grow and scale.
Previous recipients of a WBDC Ignite, Equity Match, or Municipal Grant (awarded at least 12 months ago) may be eligible to apply.
Key Dates:
