Somers Cultural Commission

The SCC supports the Mary Drayton Visual Arts Scholarship Fund for Somers High School Seniors who are going on to secondary education in the visual arts.

Established in 1993, the SCC's mission is to promote artistic and cultural activities within the Town of Somers; to encourage development and participation in all activities; and to offer advice with planning and coordination of events in Somers. In addition, the commission sponsors a summer Concerts on the Common series, five outdoor concerts held on Thursday evenings for residents of Somers and

surrounding towns. The Piedmont Art Show held in September and October, founded by the SCC, is a juried show and sale of original works of art by regional artists. It has established a reputation regionally as one of the best of its kind. A Photography Show is held in April. Although Somers is a comparatively small town, thanks to the Somers Cultural Commission there is always something interesting taking place here. You are cordially invited to participate in all activities. Both residents of Somers and visitors are always welcome.

We would like to thank all of the talented winners of our 32nd Regional Juried Art Show 2025. We would also like to thank the many talented artists who entered their art work for our show; our terrific juror, Nicholas Read; Somers Colonial Flower Shoppe who generously provided us with wonderful plants; & Somers DG Graphics who gave us quality printing & design. Lastly, to you the viewing public, we thank you for supporting us year after year - we couldn’t have done it without you💕

Our Piedmont Art Show was a huge success! The weather was beautiful with enthusiastic attendees & the art work, as always, was very impressive. Stay tuned - we’ll be posting the winning entries on FB after the show concludes.

YOU’RE ALL INVITED TO CELEBRATE OUR 32ND PIEDMONT ART SHOW ON SEPT 14th, 1-3 pm. The winning entries have been judged & now we want to share all our entries with YOU as we open our doors at Piedmont Hall on 604 Main St, Somers, CT. We begin with our opening reception from 1-3 pm where this year’s winners will be announced at 1:30 pm. This event is open to the public & is free of charge.
