Got this welcome report from a resident:
My daughter Lauren and I cleaned up the Loomis Drive entrance to the Preserve and Route 118 between Loomis and Travis. We collected 2 full garbage bags, 2 full recycling bags, 4 tires (2 mounted on wheels), tire tread from a truck, large plastic container lid, and miscellaneous metal. It is all stacked at the Loomis Drive entrance to the Preserve (except the recycling bags which we will put with our household recycling).

I understand you will arrange for the Town to collect.
Since Route 118 Is a State Road in town, I called DOT on Rt 100 to pick up.

April is Earth Month!! And it's time to clear our streets, trails, properties and waterways of litter and to beautify our yards, with flowers, bushes and trees!
Keep Somers Beautiful is the first Affiliate of Keep America Beautiful in Westchester County since 2022
In preparation for America celebrating its 250th anniversary of our Independence from England in 1776⁶ and establishing our own Constitutional Republic, Keep America Beautiful has introduced the Great American CleanUp Pledge to clean & beautify our country in preparation for this grand celebration and to continue to be caring and responsible caretakers of our earth and environment!

And, finally, let Keep Somers Beautiful know and we will provide the supplies you will need to clean up safely with safety vests, reachers/grabbers/picker-uppers at the Somers Library in Reis Park Saturday, April 18th 9-3.
We will also be available for sign ups to Adopt A Road, Beautification Projects at town & state road intersections, or town properties to provide clearing and plantings,
provide presentations available through KAB and Leave No Trace for schools, clubs, organizations...
And we welcome anyone to join our board to assist in all these plannings and presentations and supply distributions which will be more often before July 4th and continue at least monthly during the summer and fall seasons.

We have pickup supplies and lots of information about opportunities to help Keep Somers Beautiful including Adopt A Road (and Adopt A Highway or portion thereof,of which we have SEVEN in our small town) great advertising of your business or group/organization when people drive by every day and read that you care about Somers 😍and are doing something about it❣️👍THANK YOU!
And there are other opportunities besides litter pick up! Join our board and help with administration🤗
In fact, we want to raise a generation who would NEVER LITTER. Reaching our children and grands in town through school, clubs and communities.
We want to beautify.
We have a grant to fulfill with Keep America Beautiful...

Keep America Beautiful has declared November - Recycling Month!
Watch this podcast and be encouraged and inspired to do all you can to recycle!
Keep Somers Beautiful is doing what we can to find out what is actually happening to our recyclables.
There is some skepticism as to whether they are being recycled or joining the trash in the landfills. It helps to properly prepare our recyclables for recycling.
As we learn more we will be sharing on this page so that we can get the word out as to what our responsibility is and what is actually happening.
Continue to do what you can and we will keep you posted!
