🔔 The biggest part of the cancer journey that no one prepares you for is survivorship.
People see someone ring the bell and think, “She did it. It’s over. She can finally get back to normal.”
But for many of us, the bell isn’t the finish line. It’s the beginning of survivorship—and often one of the hardest parts of the journey.
During treatment, there is a plan, a team, and a next step. When treatment ends, the support often fades, but the challenges don’t. Fear of recurrence, scan anxiety, lingering side effects, changes in your body, relationships, and identity can all become part of life after cancer.
The bell deserves to be celebrated. But we should spend just as much time preparing people for survivorship as we do preparing them for treatment.
Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t surviving cancer—it’s learning how to live after it. 💜
