🌟 Community Update & Upcoming Events! 🌟
Thank you to everyone who joined our May board meeting! Here’s a quick look at what’s happening around town and what we’re planning next.
🧹 Spring Cleanup Success!
Our April community cleanup was a huge win for Shickshinny! With the help of volunteers, local students, and the Northwest football team, we filled two dumpsters—that’s roughly 8 tons of trash removed from our borough. We’re exploring a Fall Cleanup to keep the momentum going.
🌼 Planter Project Rollout
Northwest Area’s shop class has finished 10+ beautiful wooden planters for businesses along Main and Union streets. Sirak’s Greenhouse is generously donating flowers for the first round. We may build a few more!
Stay tuned for how businesses and community members can sponsor future projects like this.
🚗 Upcoming Community Events
🎡 Shickshinny Carnival – June 18–20
Hosted by the Borough, but we’re helping boost vendor turnout. If you know food trucks, crafters, or small businesses who’d like to participate, send them our way!
🌭 Hot Dog Eating Contest – July 3 (4–10 PM)
Our second annual hot dog showdown is back and bigger than ever! ✔ Fundraiser for A Moment of Magic ✔ Food trucks, DJ Rob Sacks, vendors & family fun ✔ Contestants already signing up ✔ New ideas this year: town wide hot dog scavenger hunt + fun costume ideas for kids and volunteers!
Mark your calendars — this is one of our most joyful community nights of the year.
🍂 Fall Harvest Fest – October 3–4 (Tentative)
We’re in early planning stages for a brand new fall celebration: 🍎 Chili cook off 🥧 Apple pie bake off 🍲 Soup cook off 🎃 Pumpkin pie or pumpkin roll contest 🚗 Car show return 🎤 Possible guest judge from the Food Fight podcast
This could become a signature Shickshinny event—stay tuned!
