Purple pinkies were everywhere at Sylvan Hills today! 💜 During lunch, the SHHS Interact Club hosted its Purple Pinkie Project in honor of World Polio Day (October 24). For every $1 donated, students had a pinkie nail painted purple. The purple pinkie honors the purple dye health workers mark on a child’s finger to show they’ve been vaccinated against polio, so each painted nail represents one child protected from this disease. Thanks to our generous Bears, we raised $83 for Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign, helping bring the world one step closer to being polio-free. And thanks to the Gates Foundation 2-to-1 matching program, that $83 will be tripled to $249 toward ending polio. Thank you to everyone who held out a pinkie for a great cause, and to the Rotary Club of Sherwood for their continued support!
