PUPDATE: Theo tested heartworm negative 😁

Meet the newest Sheltie Shack Rescue foster resident. Urgent call came this morning, THEO needed a place to land ASAP. He had been re-homed earlier this summer and a resident dog was beating him up, they informed orignial owner if they didn't take him back, a bullet would be the solution (SMH). They loved him enough to not let anything bad happen to him and brought him back home yesterday, only to make a 6 hr round trip to safety today. Initial opinion, this is a GEM of a boy (DOB: 3-15-20). Winston is thrilled beyond words to have a potential playmate buddy (jury 😉 still out for that). Tomorrow I will find out if he's gotten lucky twice (HW testing). His beautiful sable colored coat will be back before the snow flies (see old photo).

Dori's family took her home after a week vacation here at Table Rock this past Saturday. She was a perfect traveler back to the Kansas City area and has settled in like I suspect she's gonna be a happy camper. Isn't she and her sister Sasha an adorable pair. Dad has already started some training.....no treat is free, right? Happy Life lil lady and come back to visit me again next summer for your family vacation.

Beautiful Liberty (LIBBY) has joined her dad and fursister in heaven at the wonderful age of 16. Her family came from Michigan to adopt her in 2017 and gave her a wonderful life after arriving at SSR from a less than desirable BYB in MO. Thank you Ellen for loving her and giving her the happy life she deserved.

In 25 years doing Sheltie Rescue, I have had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people, some whom have become very dear friends. This week, I sadly learned of the passing of one of those very dear friends (my ornery ole Irishman, Dennis O'Rourke). We had chatted only 2 days earlier. Dennis adopted only the 2nd sheltie (Annabelle) I placed doing rescue and we have stayed in touch through relashionship changes and moves for both of us ever since. Rest in peace, dear friend. I know you were greeted by many shelties at Rainbow Bridge, including his last SSR alum "Shammy" who I was told was laid to rest only a few days after Dennis. I will miss you.

Mama Julee....your baby boy Winston "formerly Cinder" (now 4.5 yrs old) has come back to the SSR nest, no fault of his own. He's resting well and settling in as well as expected. I promise to take good care of him and find him a new home to love him unconditionally.

Dori aka "WooWoo, the singer" was pretty proud of herself posing this pretty. 3 1/2 year old, 14 #, Dori, had a great wellness exam and is ready to meet a new and adoring family. She isn't perfect (are any of us?). She is noise sensitive/nervous (traffic, loud noises, storms, etc.) and will require a quieter community than where she last lived. She is completely vetted and reliably house trained. She will do best in a home where someone is home or schedules are staggered, without small children and with a securely fenced yard. Inquiries will be addressed through e-mail addy ([email protected]) or privately in FB messenger. The adoption requirements, more photos with bio and the application can be found on the SSR website (www.sheltieshack.com). We are located in far southwestern Missouri (Shell K**b). We do NOT ship. Adopter must be willing to come meet our dogs in a safe environment and in the comfort zone of their foster home.
