This pretty girl has joined Sheltie Shack Rescue. Dori is originally a breeder release due to not producing litters. She is a small sable girl and 3.5 years old. Our beautiful Sheltie Shack Rescue alum Beau sucumbed to cancer earlier this week. Thank you Ev and Wally for coming all the way to Shell K**b, MO from Illinois to adopt this precious boy, along with his supporting staff (Linda and Beth) whom assisted in making this a successful, long distance, adoption. Beau was initially pulled from an area animal shelter. He was such a delightful boy; however, unfortunately, he had more medical issues than any one dog deserved (glaucoma, heartworms and lastly prostate cancer). God's speed precious boy....you were very loved.

CONGRATS to Ginger and her new family (alum) Deb, sheltie fur sib, MacDuff and Maine C**n kitty sib, Tank. Based on first 24 hour photos, it appears she has settled in quite easily ☺️ even assuming co-duties on security detail and picking her spot on the couch. Thank you Deb and enjoy your new little entertainer of the household 😉.

Ginger, fondly dubbed GinGin is en exuberant, happy and fun loving 8 year old sheltie still looking for her forever home. We had an approved adopter lined up for her; however, this past weekend, that abruptly changed and she is back on the available list no fault of her own. While here, we have addressed the medical concerns she arrived with most of which evolved from pitiful eating habits in her former home (skin/weight). She has lost 10 pounds and could stand to lose a few more...warm weather and time outdoors will help that. She would fit in a home with another dog(s) or love to be the sole beneficiary of being a spoiled singleton. She still begs mercifully for people food (not whining, but with those beautiful, yet pitiful eyes, ha). That can NO LONGER happen so if you do not have that will power, please don't inquire about her. We want her to be healthy and live another 8+ years.

REMINDER.....this 8 pound, 1 year old "pocket pistol", Emmy is still available for adoption. Cute as a bug, but she is still a project pup with lots to learn after being in her foster home since 8-1-25. She's the perfect example of what backyard breeders very often produce. To be clear, we have had numerous applications, just not the RIGHT ONE for her needs which are: 1) sheltie experience, 2) minimally, one interested sheltie playmate (she plays rough), 3) age appropriate adopter, 4) shy/mill dog experience, no high expectations and exceptance of what she will ever possibly be able to give in return. Even though she looks like she could be, she has not proven to be a snuggly lil girl.

Permanent Foster "NELSON" gained his wings yesterday (2-28-26). He arrived in rescue 3-3-25 at an estimated 16 years of age. His previous owner had a stroke and ultimately passed away. Family neglected coming into the home to take care of him and he was eventually picked up and surrendered to the animal shelter at nearly 1/2 the weight he should be. Needless to say, he was not a candidate for adoption and enjoyed living as one of my own pack. Nelson's demise was from huge tumor on his leg that was quite aggressive. It was removed last August; however grew back fast. Seniors have a special place in my heart.....and like many before him, Nelson leaves a hole in my heart. 💔
