A heartfelt thank you from The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County and JCPRD to everyone who came out and joined us at Meadowbrook Fest last Friday! We loved seeing our community gather in a JCPRD park to enjoy local food, play, shop, create, sing and dance! Summer fun is what we’re here for! Even more importantly, together we raised awareness and funds for JCPRD's Public Art Program, helping bring more art and cultural experiences to JCPRD parks! 🌸🌱🐝 Happy spring foundation friends! Did you know that we have 502 nest boxes in JCPRD parks? Over the past 6 years, our numbers of bluebird fledglings have increased, on average, by 169 birds per year. If this trend continues in 2026, weather permitting, we will exceed 2,000 fledglings for the first time! 🪺🐦 🌳🌼

We have also seen a record number of other native and migrating bird species, including tree swallows. This success is due to our wonderful Avian Volunteers as well as our amazing Natural Resources Team who work every day to provide the habitat they need. We are proud to support these programs! 💚🩵🧡

Many of the animals at Ernie Miller cannot return to the wild due to injury or special needs - this is their forever home. They are powerful wildlife ambassadors helping visitors learn about our natural world and giving us all a sense of wonder and hope. 💚🦉🐢🐰
